Thanks! And, actually, the auroras can be various colors, depending on what gasses are most prolific in the atmosphere where they are taking place. Oxygen at 60 miles up tends to glow a yellowy green when hit by the charged sun particles, thus the yellow green auroras most common in the Northern hemisphere. Oxygen at 200 miles glows red (thus why some auroras have red tops to them) and nitrogen glows blue or purple. :]
