How much time has passed..? Decades? Centuries?.. A millennia?
Time seem so trivial of a thing here in Hell. Every day seems the same, it all melds together into incohesive monotony after a time.
Though I suppose I've been here long enough to become one of 'them'. The senior executives; the higher in the chain demons.
Still subserviently to the big boss.. but he no longer seems to view me as a lower level punching bag any longer.
He's.. friendlier if one could say such. It seems when you've become one of them, you can come to enjoy work rather than dread it. I look to those under my supervision now and think how I use to be in their shoes. I too dreaded punching in the time card. I too had concerns on who might just be snatching me up for some nefarious purpose from my desk.
Yet I think I know why Ludolf sees me buddy buddy now and why my own subordinates fear me as I did him; the higher the daemon, the stronger their powers. Even with his head so chocked full of wine and perverse thoughts, Ludolf knows better than to have a powerful enemy that could usurp him. He likes his ass to remain cozily on that big boss chair.
I guess he should be wary. He is the one who 'mentored' me after all after this. I feared becoming him and letting this company's corruptive nature also take hold of me. Alas even the most good hearted tend to fall after so much monotony and being used so much. Some may not rise so highly as I have, whether because they grow comfortable and lazy or just do not have the teeth and claws to fight.
I've earned my place at the executive table, I believe. I am comfortable here and get what I want now. The payment for such is change as I see myself not the same anymore. But I don't see myself as Ludolf either like I feared, but rather I am myself. I am Pich. I am better than what I was before and I can be better than him if I so desired. Big Boss Pich.. it has a nice ring to it..
