Final Development Phase by GarnaalProductions
"We've delayed our superiors for long enough. Draconis wants their Warblades by tomorrow. I'm sorry, but we're out of time. Start unsealing his tank."
Today was just like every other, nothing but the cold, inky darkness surrounding what he called home. 016 had been kept sedated ever since his birth from within the depths of the Biological Research Laboratories, cultivated from just a handful of cells and built for the sole purpose of being a disposable warrior to do his masters bidding. He had been one of the most successful and promising specimens so far, yet he was not unlike the others. Each Warblade was born - or built for that matter - for the sole purpose to fight and die for those same masters. So far, most of the specimens had ended in failure. There were accidents, incidents, and various complications that arose with the genetic modifications. Most only lasted a few months, but the Warblade 016 - also known as "Vincent" by the staff - had lasted the entire 3-month growth phase. He had grown used to the darkness, entirely empty with the exception of the humming noises from the machinery that tended to his bodily needs.
The wolf was mostly covered in white fur with red and blue runes going over his body. A tuft of hair on the top of his head was dyed blue, which some of the staff tended to joke about its style resembling that of a dying flame. His fur was thick from the lack of grooming and his belly was somewhat taut, though he was healthy enough. The very miniscule excess of fur and fat provided no hindrance to his movement and was kept for insulation. It was all topped off with a pair of yellow eyes that had remained shut for quite a long time, but when open, almost seemed to stare into one's soul.
Perhaps it would have been better if he were to remain this way, for he would soon have to face the harsh, terrible reality that lay beyond a wall of glass and dreams. Those would be the last dreams he would ever have.
Vincent had been confined for a good part of his life, the fluid surrounding the specimen was mixed with a variety of hormones and chemicals that accelerated his mental and physical development. One of these systems included a small cord was resting within his ear, providing audio stimulation to develop his senses. Only quiet, calming music was played, followed by audio-based education programs that would only be remotely enjoyed by a small pup. His development had spiked in little under a year, which was a rare feat for any of the many top-secret R&D Projects being developed behind the thick, altorium walls around the Alako Facility.
The subject appeared in his usual state, floating within the tank in a fetal position. The weekly MRI Scans also showed that he was in a period of REM Sleep. Many of the researchers in charge of the Project were glad to know about this, as it showed that his mind had developed as intended, even with the constant isolation. Today, he was scheduled to be released from his tank, and it would soon be time to get him out of his tube and into the real world.
Who was he? Where was he? Was this life? Death? Something in between? These were the only questions in the creatures mind, he was nobody, perhaps he simply didn't exist. As far as the Wolvan was concerned, he simply didn't care..
Vincent drifted back into his deep slumber...
I have to admit that I might've felt a little reluctant to post this artwork, seeing as how I kind of forgot about it. Well, say hello to Vincent! I'll be featuring him in a lot of my content from now on, and I'm looking forward to drawing someone other than just Ember for once! Additionally I will be showing off more of his lore, backstory, and some more content around the mysterious Warblade Program and what exactly that project curtails. His cybernetics are derived from upgraded variations of the same kind Ember uses, so that will also probably be explored in the future.
Artwork was made by GarnaalProductions, Vincent belongs to me.
