The Soldier and the King (Hero Forge)
Another doubles image I took on Hero Forge; this time we have Roger J. Raticus, the Snare Soldier, and military hero of the planet Ratatat. standing next to the king he served, His Exalted Highness, King Ross II, also known as Regal Rat. The former has achieved global fame as the founding father of the Drumbum organization (animals who play music and keep in physical shape, whether by bodybuilding or by staying athletically fit), while the latter has the distinction of being the wealthiest living Forsythian in the whole history of the Forsythe System (even after adjusting for inflation); his net worth in US dollars comes to about $32.5 billion.
The name "Regal Rat" also applies to the name of a drum solo written by Roger in honor of his king. The original solo calls for only a snare drum; a later variation of the same thing added bass drums to the mix so that the king's Royal Ensemble of bugles and drums can perform the solo. (King Ross has the biggest fanfare ensemble with 14 trumpeter rats, six rats playing the snare drum, two playing the bass drum, and one rat on the timpani, or kettledrums. There is no timpani part in the solo, however.)
While the Snare Soldier lives up to his name and makes living banging on the drums all day (particularly being the finest jazz drummer that ever lived), Regal Rat plays primarily alto and tenor saxophone (though he can also play the soprano and baritone saxophone). He was originally to take clarinet lessons, the story goes, but after trying the different instruments out, he found the saxophone suited him better.
