"First described and named in 1957 by Jorge Luis Borges in his book Book of Imaginary Beings, he states the origins as a long-lost medieval manuscript. This has never been confirmed, leaving the history of the creature up for debate. He described them as having the front half of a deer and the wings and back half of a bird. They once lived in Atlantis before escaping an earthquake that buried the civilization. They are capable of killing one human in their life, after which their previously humanoid shadow will become a normal one."
