Luke Croconaw was sleeping peacefully in his room, when abruptly Saren Larvitar opens the door slamming it with the bang being the cause of the great fright Croconaw took, breaking from his sweet dreams to his younger brother throwing himself under his belly on the bed. Larvitar quickly grabs the red fin of his older brother's head shaking it fast, the younger Pokémon then said in an incredibly accelerated and cheerful manner:
— YOU GOT IT, YOU GOT IT, I KNEW IT, I ALWAYS KNEW MY BROTHER WAS GREAT, GET UP SOON LUKE AND PUT ON YOUR SCARF, RUN RUN RUN RUN, YOUR BOSS IS WAITING FOR YOU!!!
Saren then jumps again on Luke's belly using it as a springboard, with the impulse he picks up the red scarf on the shelf throwing it then on the Croconaw's head which would already complain to Larvitar, Saren left the room laughing leaving Luke lying on the bed feeling he had just been abused wanting to understand what was happening there. Getting up, still groggy from sleep and pain, visibly angry, the Croconaw gives a small growl, finally putting on his scarf and tying the red shoelaces on his tail, Luke scratches his head while yawning from exhaustion.
The first thing that Croconaw sees is his brother Larvitar restless on the couch smiling excitedly, when he gets closer, he sees a familiar face being Aurora Ribombee flying around the couch smiling, the Pokémon realizing Luke's presence says cheerfully:
— Look at that, I see the rookie has finally woken up.... I can't believe you didn't tell your family members that you joined Team Candyzzz, I know we're not affiliated with the Lacustre guild... But you don't have to keep it a secret! Kekeke!
Still processing everything that occurred there Croconaw yawns for still being very sleepy, as his mind returned to routine instability, he recalls that when he arrived last night Feraligatr Lucius had not returned to the lodge and Saren had already slept so they did not see him arrive not having anyone to tell the news. Luke then embarrassed apologizes to Ribombee justifying himself in a shy way, Aurora still smiling kindly lands on Croconaw's big and fluffy snout, at that moment Saren jumps from the couch agonized speaking fast:
— Bad, tell me lady Aurora, the Candyzzz team specializes in what?! YOU RESCUE POKÉMON, EXPLORE DUNGEONS, HUNT TREASURE, HUNT THIEVES, DISCOVERY REGIONS?! GHAAAA, WHAT A THRILL!
Luke was getting redder and redder as Larvitar asked so abruptly and shamefully, Ribombee on the other hand was not bothered at all by the questions smiling graciously answering him:
— We are a rescue team, specializing in finding and assisting lost Pokémon. The region I come from is Imbuia which is well east of Calypso, and I answer to the Orvai base of the great city Sharat...
Saren opened his little one impressed, his eyes glowed with admiration for the little Aurora as if she were an ultra-famous Pokémon, but all that moment was interrupted when the door of the lodge opened abruptly. It was none other than the patriarch of the Hidron family, the great black-scarfed Feraligatr Lucios, who appeared to be completely exhausted and gave a loud yawn of sleep.
The brothers were surprised that their father had spent the night attending to the affairs of the kingdom, Feraligatr approached the room while tying the large black scarf around his neck. The patriarch then looks around with a sleepy Luke-like face saying good morning to his two sons in a nonchalant manner, at that moment he notices Ribombee sitting on the firstborn's muzzle widening his eyes, a long explanation later...:
— LUKE GOT APPROVAL ON A TEAM, WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME BEFORE!!! AWWWW LUKE MY DARLING SON!!! GIVE A HUG TO THE BIG GUY HERE SON!!!
Feraligatr spoke happily as he ran around giving his pup a warm hug, Aurora comes out of the Pokémon's snout and so Lucios licked Croconaw's face showing how happy he was with the news, after so much affection he puts his pup back down still looking very proud completing what he was talking about:
—LUKE YOU MAY NOT BE IN LACUSTRE, BUT THE ORVAI GUILD IS VERY GOOD TOO AND HAS TIES TO US AND QUEEN LENCIA. TRY HARD MY SON, SUCCESS FOR YOU IN YOUR PROFESSIONAL LIFE, I KNOW YOU ARE CAPABLE OF GOING FAR, ME AND YOUR MOTHER.... Nai...
Lucius stops talking for a while looking away seeing everything around, he seemed to want to find something in which he was nowhere to his unhappiness, it doesn't take long for Feraligatr to lower his head with his eyes closed and say with regret:
— Sorry, that news was so good I forgot to mention, your mother.... Your mother, Nai, she's ....
Lucius explained to his sons that their mother, Nai Tyranitar, had been summoned to carry out a mission of extreme risk, she would be out of the city for a long time and would possibly have no way of sending news.
Saren is not shaken, he smiles imagining that his mother is taking part in a super-adventure and will surely bring back some pretty cool stuff when she returns, the little one even approaches his father hugging his leg to cheer him up, Luke and Aurora on the other hand knew the truth about Tyranitar's disappearance and seeing his father's lie did not make the Croconaw happy. Luke closed his hand tightly into a fist, he imagined the pain his father would be going through not knowing about his wife's whereabouts, unfortunately Croconaw had to pretend to believe Feraligatr's lie to keep the secret with his stepmother, and with that he says trying to be confident:
— I know that wherever mommy is, she is fine and thinking of us all and asking Arceus for our protection, we don't need to worry, am I right dad?
It wasn't Luke's first lie, he used to hold his water pendant inside his red scarf to feel more secure with everything, the Feraligatr just smiled showing all the teeth of his big mouth agreeing with his pups.
The four Pokémon talked a little longer in the lodge, and in order to prolong the conversation the patriarch with the help of the eldest son prepared a meal for everyone to enjoy while they continued the conversation by eating. Lucius first talked about how much he liked the Orvai base where Ribombee came from, he asked directly if the little one knew the explorers there, Luke and Saren just ate listening to the stories about the various Pokémon unknown to them, Croconaw in particular liked that his father and his caretaker were getting along, however it doesn't take long for Feraligatr to decide to ask him more intimate questions:
— So, Aurora, does your team have any other members?
The Ribombee was drinking a tiny glass of Oran berry juice while listening to Lucius' question, she stops drinking and shows a little sadness, with her head down she answers him:
— Yeah, sure... The Candyzzz are formed by me being the support, by Boreal Beedrill our muscle and by Vasquez Vespiqueen the smart leader. Only I came to Calypso hoping to increase the team and perform services, my partners stayed in Imbuia to take care of the affairs there.
The Feraligatr is satisfied with Aurora's answer and goes back to enjoying his dish of Tamato berry stew with Bluk berry sauce made by him and his son, but the Ribombee's justification was a big lie. Her companions accompanied her to Calypso but before they reached Argules they were ambushed by Theo Ursaring and Mei Servine, because of which they were all turned into statues and left behind like trash and would still be there if not for Luke and Nai.
Some time passed, Lucius yawns and says that today the queen had given him time off from his duties and that he would get some rest, Croconaw asks to go with Aurora to drop Saren off at school, without questioning Feraligatr accepts and tells his children to be careful because of the lack of security in the city. All the way to school, young Larvitar was playing with little Ribombee who seemed to like the little one and it was such fun for Saren that he didn't even notice when they arrived at their destination.
Luke thought hard seeing his brother disappearing inside the big gates of the school, Ribombee rummages through her small bag looking for her gadget to do a mission with her new partner, upon finding it she sends it to Croconaw's device. Luke unbelievably didn't seem to be that excited to do missions, however seeing his brother's joy as his father's pride made him decide to give it a try, at this the Pokémon reads the message speaking to both himself and Aurora:
— "Hello my name is Nadim I am a Druddigon, my partner Nonato a Dottler got lost in one dungeon called Vilci lake and even though I search I cannot find him. I ask for help from a specialized rescue team to help my friend, but be careful, after all it is a mysterious dungeon that changes constantly." Hmmm interesting, hehe, let's perform this rescue then?
Aurora smiles confirming Croconaw's question, the Ribombee activates a function on her Gadget which serves as a compass flying following the indicated direction to the mission location. Croconaw gives a happy smile, he thought he would never get an official mission because of the lie that he was weak, the Pokémon starts at follow Aurora when he remembers one small problem in particular; "if at the time we have to fight will I have to follow through with the lie or will I finally be able to fight with everything like Luke?"
By coincidence, Mei Servine was walking undercover through the city looking for victims, when she spotted a Croconaw wearing red laces wrapped around his tail heading towards the Argules city exit gate. She watched him from afar for a while until she remembered the stolen kiss a few nights ago, Servine gives a sordid smile as she imagined what the pokémon's expression would be when it was petrified, but she wanted to put Theo Ursaring's plan into practice and figured that the Croconaw might be a perfect target, so keeping her distance and unnoticeable the Hellstalker follows her prey.
Not far from there inside the walls of Argules' palace two Pokémon were fighting a fierce battle in a secret arena, on one side was Cody Charmeleon with his blue cape, and on the other Naz Gabite with his orange stripes on his arms. Cody rushes forward with his Dragon Claw towards the Pokémon in front of him, Naz with his left claw holds his pink skirt and raises his right arm spinning like a dancer.
The Charmeleon was about to hit Gabite, but the rattles on the Pokémon's ribbon rang, changing the direction in which Cody was running without noticing. Taking advantage of the distraction, Naz stomps hard on the ground with his graceful dance moves, this causes a crack to come closer and closer to Cody as the Earth Power move, however Charmeleon's blue cape becomes blue wings taking him out of the radius of the move:
— Humph, your sacred item is a bummer.... If it wasn't for him, this battle would be over by now.
Said Gabite with debauchery still dancing and jumping around as if in a performance, the Charmeleon growls in frustration at getting his move wrong and being saved by his cape, however he still shouts in response to his air companion's teasing:
— DO YOU THINK YOUR SACRED ITEM THAT MANIPULATES SPACE PERCEPTION IS FUN TO DEAL WITH?!
Naz just smiles as she turns and jerks her left arm towards Cody, this causes her to throw the incense burner attached to the orange band of that arm which stretches out and quickly approaches Charmeleon. Cody easily dodges the object and tries to cut the ribbon with his Dragon Claw failing in the process, Rex Lucario who was watching the battle from afar in an empty grandstand shouts:
— SACRED ITEMS ARE TOUGH CODY, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO BREAK THEM WITH A STANDARD ATTACK! FOCUS ON AVOIDING THEM AND NOT ON BREAKING THEM, DO THE SAME WITH THE STRIKES IMBUED WITH MATTER AURA, AFTER ALL ANY WRONG MOVE COULD COST YOU DEARLY.
Gabite pulls her left arm causing the incense burner to return towards her, Charmeleon is still in the orange tape radius and is hit in the back, being pulled violently towards Naz. Gabite jumps using the Iron Head and hits Cody's chin while he is still in the air, the impulse added to the impact makes Charmeleon spin and fall on his neck on the ground feeling a lot of pain, Naz on the other hand lands on the ground with elegance and happy that his attack was effective and Soldier mocks his partner once again:
— Kehehe, well well well, looks like I left the prince in a delicate situation, nhow more than cute....
The Lucario lets out a little air appearing annoyed seeing the carelessness of Cody in the battle, Rex watches the Charmeleon get up back to Gabite and with difficulty even cleaning the blood from part of his body using his white claw, feeling the slowness and hesitation in the movements of his pupil the Soldier leader alerts him again:
— WAKE UP CODY, FOCUS ON THE FIGHT!!! IN MOMENTS LIKE THESE YOU CAN'T WEAKEN, YOU WANT TO BE DEFEATED BY THAT CROCONAW AGAIN!
Cody growls loudly in response to Lucario's warning, that growl scares Naz who drops his haughty pose preparing to deal with the opponent, turning quickly facing his partner the Charmeleon uses the Flamethrower on the same which reacts using the tape on his arm with the incense burner, effective for managing to overcome Cody's movement. However, when that fire stroke dissipated Charmeleon was no longer visible to Naz, Gabite was about to raise the arm on which the ribbon with the rattles was placed, intending to contain an attack when she heard:
— Checkmate...
Cody had whispered those words close to Naz's head from behind her, so he completely covered the Dragon gal's head with his blue cape squeezing its neck with his strong arm. The Charmeleon squeezed harder and harder, squealing to Gabite, Naz tries to fight back even hitting Cody with his fin and tail without any success, the Charmeleon then activates his Dragon Claw speaking again close to the Soldier's head in a provocative voice:
— Now that is a delicate situation.... If you continue to be such a naughty female, I will stab you with my Dragon Claw, understood?
Gabite vehemently refused to give up the points to Charmeleon, so Naz opened her mouth wide, deciding to use the Dragon Pulse to escape the suffocation of the blue cape. However, she completely forgot the words spoken earlier by the master, instead of the Dragon Pulse tearing the cape the movement simply explodes in Gabite's face giving her the massive damage of the Dragon-type blow leaving her unable to continue.
Cody removes the cape from Naz's face and drops it, letting it fall to the ground demonstrating his victory, Rex enters the arena applauding his two pupil’s for the battle while talking about the strengths and weaknesses he observed during the battle. The Charmeleon smiles stretching his claw to her partner, Gabite raises her own smiling shyly holding her partner's which helps her stand up, Naz still gets up with difficulty dropping the Soldier's claw and crossing her arms grumbling quite frustrated for having lost a fight which she dominated until a certain point.
Cody doesn't even hear her because his head is somewhere else, the Charmeleon scratches his chin as he walks away from his two teammates, Cody couldn't get out of his mind that exchange of eyes with Rubro last night and the uncanny resemblance they had with Luke's something that made him transport himself to the frustrating night he kissed Croconaw:
— HEY, hey, HEEEEEEEY, Ow Cody wake up there, what's wrong with you? If you keep your head in space, you'll turn into a Minior.
Shouted Lucario already very annoyed with Charmeleon's attitude which was nothing new and even Gabite noticed the prince's carelessness, Cody just spat on the ground and crossing his arms in a very bratty attitude answered nonchalantly:
— I just need to relax a bit, it's been a tense couple of days.... Now I have my own things to do, even.
The Charmeleon raised his claw to his companions following his way to his quarters, already in his room he spent many hours looking at his gadget irritated for not having had any response from Luke. Cody then decides to go to the lodge to talk to Croconaw personally, however on the way he meets a Charizard guard and decides to ask for information, he tells abouts Lucios who was resting in the lodge alone, tired for turning the night looking for Nai Tyranitar still missing and the guards unauthorized to tell Pokémon of lower hierarchy to Feraligatr about it, he also saw earlier Luke taking his brother Larvitar to school accompanied by a Ribombee, after this comment the guard strangely begins to laugh:
— KEHEHEHAHA, poor Ribombee, she must be from a foreign Pokémon team, she must not know that Luke is completely useless in battle GWAHahahaha, may Arceus help that duo Gwahaha...Cof cof So- sorry your highness, I got carried away with gossip.
Cody growled briefly at the Charizard guard then signaled with his claw for him to retreat, the Charmeleon hated seeing and hearing Pokémon treat Croconaw poorly for appearing weak. Cody walks around the palace thoughtfully, he recalls Rubro's first appearance being fighting a Drapion that took Luke's little brother hostage, suddenly Nai is gone and when the rescue teams go looking for her they are attacked and seriously wounded by Rubro; the Fire Pokémon was walking around thinking about all these details when to put a moment of walking, the Pokémon scratches it’s still sore neck and speaks to itself:
— Urrrf, I think I'm traveling too far.... It's quite a few coincidences... Maybe I wanted Luke to be the Rubro, since if he's strong like that we could be a Soldier together... But... what if they are...
Cody then remembers the Matter Aura that the red hooded Croconaw had released, this could be something that would make Luke not suspect because he is not a Hellstalker, but the Charmeleon also remembers the blood red eyes of Rubro identical to Luke's crimson eyes, the Fire Pokémon leans against one of the castle walls taking a deep breath, and then he says to himself looking at the day on the balcony:
- Luke... I haven't seen you since the day I kissed you... I wonder if... No... No, FUCK NO, this… THIS CAN’T, just … Can't be real.
Unfortunately for Cody in which he tried to deny everything fell into place, Croconaw could have turned Hellstalker for fear that he and his family would have retaliation due to the rejection he put Charmeleon through. Because of this he fled during the night and Saren went after him, but Luke was not the only Hellstalker that night as Drapion was too and tried to attack his younger brother Larvitar, Croconaw with the increased powers from turning into Hellstalker managed to stop Drapion and as neither Saren nor Brago Rotom Dex knew the difference of a Hellstalker to a Beserker made the confusion, the fire Pokémon slowly walks to the balcony leaning against it overlooking the street below and still he was talking to himself to organize his theories:
— Some things still don't fit, but most make so much sense that it comes to.... comes to... DAMMIT, DAMMIT!
Cody was furious, he couldn't stand the idea that the Pokémon he loves the most had become a Hellstalker, so he runs and uses the Thunderpunch move on the palace wall, the impact alone made the wall crack and didn't even do damage to Charmeleon's claw, whose tail was burning with rage. Cody then runs out through the palace's corridors being seen by several Pokémon, Charmeleon then throws itself from one of the balconies scaring several Charizard guards who were already going to fly to save it, however its blue cape had become Charizard wings making Charmeleon fly in the horizon, Cody looks to the city streets in search of Croconaw when he says to himself:
— Luke, I'm coming to you... Please, please, I beg you... Don't make me hate you…

Some time passed, Lucius yawns and says that today the queen had given him time off from his duties and that he would get some rest, Croconaw asks to go with Aurora to drop Saren off at school, without questioning Feraligatr accepts and tells his children to be careful because of the lack of security in the city. All the way to school, young Larvitar was playing with little Ribombee who seemed to like the little one and it was such fun for Saren that he didn't even notice when they arrived at their destination.
Luke thought hard seeing his brother disappearing inside the big gates of the school, Ribombee rummages through her small bag looking for her gadget to do a mission with her new partner, upon finding it she sends it to Croconaw's device. Luke unbelievably didn't seem to be that excited to do missions, however seeing his brother's joy as his father's pride made him decide to give it a try, at this the Pokémon reads the message speaking to both himself and Aurora:
— "Hello my name is Nadim I am a Druddigon, my partner Nonato a Dottler got lost in one dungeon called Vilci lake and even though I search I cannot find him. I ask for help from a specialized rescue team to help my friend, but be careful, after all it is a mysterious dungeon that changes constantly." Hmmm interesting, hehe, let's perform this rescue then?
Aurora smiles confirming Croconaw's question, the Ribombee activates a function on her Gadget which serves as a compass flying following the indicated direction to the mission location. Croconaw gives a happy smile, he thought he would never get an official mission because of the lie that he was weak, the Pokémon starts at follow Aurora when he remembers one small problem in particular; "if at the time we have to fight will I have to follow through with the lie or will I finally be able to fight with everything like Luke?"
By coincidence, Mei Servine was walking undercover through the city looking for victims, when she spotted a Croconaw wearing red laces wrapped around his tail heading towards the Argules city exit gate. She watched him from afar for a while until she remembered the stolen kiss a few nights ago, Servine gives a sordid smile as she imagined what the pokémon's expression would be when it was petrified, but she wanted to put Theo Ursaring's plan into practice and figured that the Croconaw might be a perfect target, so keeping her distance and unnoticeable the Hellstalker follows her prey.
Not far from there inside the walls of Argules' palace two Pokémon were fighting a fierce battle in a secret arena, on one side was Cody Charmeleon with his blue cape, and on the other Naz Gabite with his orange stripes on his arms. Cody rushes forward with his Dragon Claw towards the Pokémon in front of him, Naz with his left claw holds his pink skirt and raises his right arm spinning like a dancer.
The Charmeleon was about to hit Gabite, but the rattles on the Pokémon's ribbon rang, changing the direction in which Cody was running without noticing. Taking advantage of the distraction, Naz stomps hard on the ground with his graceful dance moves, this causes a crack to come closer and closer to Cody as the Earth Power move, however Charmeleon's blue cape becomes blue wings taking him out of the radius of the move:
— Humph, your sacred item is a bummer.... If it wasn't for him, this battle would be over by now.
Said Gabite with debauchery still dancing and jumping around as if in a performance, the Charmeleon growls in frustration at getting his move wrong and being saved by his cape, however he still shouts in response to his air companion's teasing:
— DO YOU THINK YOUR SACRED ITEM THAT MANIPULATES SPACE PERCEPTION IS FUN TO DEAL WITH?!
Naz just smiles as she turns and jerks her left arm towards Cody, this causes her to throw the incense burner attached to the orange band of that arm which stretches out and quickly approaches Charmeleon. Cody easily dodges the object and tries to cut the ribbon with his Dragon Claw failing in the process, Rex Lucario who was watching the battle from afar in an empty grandstand shouts:
— SACRED ITEMS ARE TOUGH CODY, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO BREAK THEM WITH A STANDARD ATTACK! FOCUS ON AVOIDING THEM AND NOT ON BREAKING THEM, DO THE SAME WITH THE STRIKES IMBUED WITH MATTER AURA, AFTER ALL ANY WRONG MOVE COULD COST YOU DEARLY.
Gabite pulls her left arm causing the incense burner to return towards her, Charmeleon is still in the orange tape radius and is hit in the back, being pulled violently towards Naz. Gabite jumps using the Iron Head and hits Cody's chin while he is still in the air, the impulse added to the impact makes Charmeleon spin and fall on his neck on the ground feeling a lot of pain, Naz on the other hand lands on the ground with elegance and happy that his attack was effective and Soldier mocks his partner once again:
— Kehehe, well well well, looks like I left the prince in a delicate situation, nhow more than cute....
The Lucario lets out a little air appearing annoyed seeing the carelessness of Cody in the battle, Rex watches the Charmeleon get up back to Gabite and with difficulty even cleaning the blood from part of his body using his white claw, feeling the slowness and hesitation in the movements of his pupil the Soldier leader alerts him again:
— WAKE UP CODY, FOCUS ON THE FIGHT!!! IN MOMENTS LIKE THESE YOU CAN'T WEAKEN, YOU WANT TO BE DEFEATED BY THAT CROCONAW AGAIN!
Cody growls loudly in response to Lucario's warning, that growl scares Naz who drops his haughty pose preparing to deal with the opponent, turning quickly facing his partner the Charmeleon uses the Flamethrower on the same which reacts using the tape on his arm with the incense burner, effective for managing to overcome Cody's movement. However, when that fire stroke dissipated Charmeleon was no longer visible to Naz, Gabite was about to raise the arm on which the ribbon with the rattles was placed, intending to contain an attack when she heard:
— Checkmate...
Cody had whispered those words close to Naz's head from behind her, so he completely covered the Dragon gal's head with his blue cape squeezing its neck with his strong arm. The Charmeleon squeezed harder and harder, squealing to Gabite, Naz tries to fight back even hitting Cody with his fin and tail without any success, the Charmeleon then activates his Dragon Claw speaking again close to the Soldier's head in a provocative voice:
— Now that is a delicate situation.... If you continue to be such a naughty female, I will stab you with my Dragon Claw, understood?
Gabite vehemently refused to give up the points to Charmeleon, so Naz opened her mouth wide, deciding to use the Dragon Pulse to escape the suffocation of the blue cape. However, she completely forgot the words spoken earlier by the master, instead of the Dragon Pulse tearing the cape the movement simply explodes in Gabite's face giving her the massive damage of the Dragon-type blow leaving her unable to continue.
Cody removes the cape from Naz's face and drops it, letting it fall to the ground demonstrating his victory, Rex enters the arena applauding his two pupil’s for the battle while talking about the strengths and weaknesses he observed during the battle. The Charmeleon smiles stretching his claw to her partner, Gabite raises her own smiling shyly holding her partner's which helps her stand up, Naz still gets up with difficulty dropping the Soldier's claw and crossing her arms grumbling quite frustrated for having lost a fight which she dominated until a certain point.
Cody doesn't even hear her because his head is somewhere else, the Charmeleon scratches his chin as he walks away from his two teammates, Cody couldn't get out of his mind that exchange of eyes with Rubro last night and the uncanny resemblance they had with Luke's something that made him transport himself to the frustrating night he kissed Croconaw:
— HEY, hey, HEEEEEEEY, Ow Cody wake up there, what's wrong with you? If you keep your head in space, you'll turn into a Minior.
Shouted Lucario already very annoyed with Charmeleon's attitude which was nothing new and even Gabite noticed the prince's carelessness, Cody just spat on the ground and crossing his arms in a very bratty attitude answered nonchalantly:
— I just need to relax a bit, it's been a tense couple of days.... Now I have my own things to do, even.
The Charmeleon raised his claw to his companions following his way to his quarters, already in his room he spent many hours looking at his gadget irritated for not having had any response from Luke. Cody then decides to go to the lodge to talk to Croconaw personally, however on the way he meets a Charizard guard and decides to ask for information, he tells abouts Lucios who was resting in the lodge alone, tired for turning the night looking for Nai Tyranitar still missing and the guards unauthorized to tell Pokémon of lower hierarchy to Feraligatr about it, he also saw earlier Luke taking his brother Larvitar to school accompanied by a Ribombee, after this comment the guard strangely begins to laugh:
— KEHEHEHAHA, poor Ribombee, she must be from a foreign Pokémon team, she must not know that Luke is completely useless in battle GWAHahahaha, may Arceus help that duo Gwahaha...Cof cof So- sorry your highness, I got carried away with gossip.
Cody growled briefly at the Charizard guard then signaled with his claw for him to retreat, the Charmeleon hated seeing and hearing Pokémon treat Croconaw poorly for appearing weak. Cody walks around the palace thoughtfully, he recalls Rubro's first appearance being fighting a Drapion that took Luke's little brother hostage, suddenly Nai is gone and when the rescue teams go looking for her they are attacked and seriously wounded by Rubro; the Fire Pokémon was walking around thinking about all these details when to put a moment of walking, the Pokémon scratches it’s still sore neck and speaks to itself:
— Urrrf, I think I'm traveling too far.... It's quite a few coincidences... Maybe I wanted Luke to be the Rubro, since if he's strong like that we could be a Soldier together... But... what if they are...
Cody then remembers the Matter Aura that the red hooded Croconaw had released, this could be something that would make Luke not suspect because he is not a Hellstalker, but the Charmeleon also remembers the blood red eyes of Rubro identical to Luke's crimson eyes, the Fire Pokémon leans against one of the castle walls taking a deep breath, and then he says to himself looking at the day on the balcony:
- Luke... I haven't seen you since the day I kissed you... I wonder if... No... No, FUCK NO, this… THIS CAN’T, just … Can't be real.
Unfortunately for Cody in which he tried to deny everything fell into place, Croconaw could have turned Hellstalker for fear that he and his family would have retaliation due to the rejection he put Charmeleon through. Because of this he fled during the night and Saren went after him, but Luke was not the only Hellstalker that night as Drapion was too and tried to attack his younger brother Larvitar, Croconaw with the increased powers from turning into Hellstalker managed to stop Drapion and as neither Saren nor Brago Rotom Dex knew the difference of a Hellstalker to a Beserker made the confusion, the fire Pokémon slowly walks to the balcony leaning against it overlooking the street below and still he was talking to himself to organize his theories:
— Some things still don't fit, but most make so much sense that it comes to.... comes to... DAMMIT, DAMMIT!
Cody was furious, he couldn't stand the idea that the Pokémon he loves the most had become a Hellstalker, so he runs and uses the Thunderpunch move on the palace wall, the impact alone made the wall crack and didn't even do damage to Charmeleon's claw, whose tail was burning with rage. Cody then runs out through the palace's corridors being seen by several Pokémon, Charmeleon then throws itself from one of the balconies scaring several Charizard guards who were already going to fly to save it, however its blue cape had become Charizard wings making Charmeleon fly in the horizon, Cody looks to the city streets in search of Croconaw when he says to himself:
— Luke, I'm coming to you... Please, please, I beg you... Don't make me hate you…
