A cool sequence showing Ray's character agreeing to be gifted power by Xanithar. Promising to not bind him in chains, the demonic entity only desired the dragon to spread chaos and destruction; something the dragon would happily oblige in exchange for god-like power! All would fear him, he would be inevitable!

There is nothing more effective and more scary than a soul filled with pure desire to spread chaos willingly. The soul that is unleashed in its wish to cleanse the world of weakness and burn it to the core
Xanny truly knows how to find recruits for his plans or even same-minded persons
Truly cool and awesome!

"When the world rots, we set it afire. For the sake of the next world. It's the one thing we do right, unlike those fools on the outside."
Kinda feel the vibe. Plus i think there is a phrase that can almost perfectly show Xan's philosophy - "Good times create weak people - they create bad times. Bad times create strong people - they create better times"
Partially i even agree with that

I actually dont necessarily agree with the good times, bad times mentality. Its mostly a myth generated by the greatest generation upon the lack of progress achieved by the baby boomers in the united states.
In reality its that war and conflict generates a lot of progress and technology as humans fight for an edge over another, not necessarily that the people are more brilliant or not based on their experiences. That's what i think Xanithar represents more than anything, needing to innovate to overcome an endless adversity. x)
