Look at this scene; it is almost pornography!
Seriously though, the Supermarine Spitfire was one of the most successful planes of the Second World War and was also a symbol of hope for the people of Britain. It gave the RAF a key advantage over whatever the Luftwaffe could throw at it and ultimately helped lead the Allies to victory.
Women played a very important part in British aviation during the war - they did not have any role in combat, but they did serve a valuable purpose as they would deliver all kinds of aircraft from their factories to their respective squadrons, including Spitfires as well as Hurricanes and Short Stirlings. Here, I chose a red squirrel ^^.

I do like the picture, but i must point out, that the Hawker Hurricane played the workhorse role of the RAF during the batlte of britan, and furthermore into the war. it was a generally more sucsessful gun platform. this is not to say the spitfire did not play its role, but the Hawker deserves more credit towards victory in the long run.
Spitfire was a sign of british power though, and should allways be seen in that way x3.
Me Nana was in the Land army. Bless em all.

I was wrong, she wasn't in combat. She was in the Air Transport Auxiliary after all; Marion Orr by name:

It's still a lovely tribute to the unsung heroes of the RAF and Commonwealth forces!

Nice man, very nice. Was always more of a Hurricane person myself....I think because it's uglier. I like ugly things.
Still love the Spitfire though. My Grandad spent the war helping develop onboard radar for them, because he had a stomach ulcer and couldn't join the Welsh Guards.

Yeah if my family wasn't so unreachable and mysterious I would know for sure, all I know is I had a pilot or 2 and a couple uncles as paratroopers in the British Army and um...My Grandfather was in special forces! Not sure which, maybe SAS but again totally unsure! So yeah...I actually found it fascinating when I learned that not only did my family serve in the British Military but that I have British ancestry and family! :3
Lol nice! That's a cool background! I am a bunch of different stuff, but I am mainly Portuguese with British and Native Indian being next and a bunch of stuff after that! xP So even though she was born in Belgium, she's actually Dutch? Very interesting! You got any other backgrounds?

wow long link...
anyway look closley to the tip of the wing and you can see that it is rounded, and not have edges.

Yes and no - it depends on the type of Spitfire it was - look at this one for example http://www.deroeck.co.uk/Spitfire-p.....FIX-21v-03.jpg
hmm thats strange, most of the spitfires had the rounded wings, they got famous for them when the english people looked to the sky and saw the silhouette of it, and not he infamous ms 109. the wings aso helped the anti-air cannons defending england to recognize their own planes.
