Cabeça-de-Tocha
This is a "dracosaur", aka a fictional dinosaur, that exists in the world of Soul Rune Cier.
The idea of the Cabeça-de-Tocha's design is to give it an eerie appearance, viewing it in the dark produces a "faceless" illusion with its sheer black facial feathers and eyeshine. Gotta give credit to this image of Rusty Nail the dog for inspiring this design's markings.
I specifically went with Herrerasaurus as a body type inspiration due to the oversaturation of tyrannosaurs and dromaeosaurs in making monstersaur designs- plus, I think herrera is very interesting and highly underrepresented, with unique anatomy.
Phosphorosaurus moros[roughly translates to light-bringing lizard of death] are also known as Torch-heads or Cabeça-de-Tocha. They are herrerasaurids that originate from Raitera, which is essentially SRC Latin America. "Torch-head" is the English/Common name, and a literal translation of its Portuguese name. It gets its common name from its body appearing like a burned-out torch, with a combination of coal dust and soot coating its feathers as well as naturally all-black feathers and skin on its face. Its scientific name comes from its pyromaniac nature, which has led to many human deaths and a well-earned fear of this predator.
They're big, cunning pyromaniacs. Cabeça-de-Tocha are known to be extremely cruel and intelligent, having levels of intelligence rivaling that of young humans and thus seem to be capable of understanding malevolence to an at least simple degree. Cabeça-de-Tocha prefer their food cooked, so they will frequently light small forest fires and roast any animals living inside. They are also sometimes known to hang around fire-breathing dragons, occasionally becoming companions or pets in exchange for promises of delicious cooked meat.
Cabeça-de-Tocha also like to play, and due to their affinity for fire their idea of "play" often includes burning animals alive on hot coals or smoldering wood to hear the funny sounds they make. Sometimes, this includes unfortunate humans.
Unfortunately Phosphorosaurus is a real genus of small mosasaurs, but considering P. moros exists in SRC and not on Earth, I think I can let it slide. And nobody calls it Phosphorosaurus anyway, it's always Cabeça-de-Tocha.
The BG image over on the right was a random forest fire stock image I found on Google. I can't find a source as it's used in many many news articles, but if anyone can find the actual photographer and credit them that'd be appreciated.
