I had quite a bit of downtime during my time in Montana. With no internet available on your computer you discover lots of little settings to tweak, and tend to experiment with a lot of stuff. In this case, I spent lots of time fiddling and tinkering with fractals in Apophysis. Not so much rendering lots of stuff, but working on one or two fractals for a long time, rendering, rendering another version, rendering another version AGAIN, and learning the program a little more. With this I went through 3 or 4 versions until I finally found the right one. (You can see them at )
I usually only use 2-4 triangles, but here I upped that number to six. I also incorporated some the variations that I hadn’t used before. (zcone, pre and post rotate) and didn’t just use the 3D-specific variations. I quite like the lattice-like structure this fractal has. It reminds me of some of the fractals that I’ve done using the “popcorn” variation, which the 3D hack, unfortunately, does not have.

Thank ya!
Yeah, for this one I wanted to try something a little more subtle in terms of color. I actually rendered another version where I zoomed in to the center even more because I wanted to see more of the warped, underlying structure, but the render was rather bad even with extensive post-processing:https://dl-web.dropbox.com/get/Phot.....png?w=5f038e0c
