Personally I think that kind of attention to detail is exceptional.
Anyone (with the art skill) can paint everything all perfect in focus. But it takes a sharp mind and well developed sense of perception to be able to go and purposely add that touch of 'imperfection' into a painting to simulate the RL focus of a camera or the eye. Everyting from the background to the pool balls nearer to front.

Mmm, I concur with Frazzle. There's a definite quiet-bar ambiance going on in the picture. The fact you've added several unmentioned background character's adds life to the picture in itself. In too many bar focused peices (though there are only a few) you commonly see the objects of the art-work tbemselves and no-one else.
I guess that's partly because they don't want any emphasis being taken away from their central presence, but I think you've managed to keep Kendall and the ocelot centre-stage, no question.

Mmm, very nice picture. His expression seems to say 'Hey doll, watch me sink this ball.'
However, I can't help but notice the numbers on the striped pool balls. I don't know if they differ between various parts of the world, but here, at least, the numbers on the striped balls are printed in black on a white circle in the stripe, rather than on the 'poles' of the ball.

They do seem to vary - this was the photo I used for reference: http://imagecache2.allposters.com/i.....ck-Posters.jpg
This has turned out wonderfully! I think you did a great job with the out of focus background.
I am really impressed with the way you did the glass though. That's really hard to do.
And I love the ocelot's dress! I could never where anything like it, but I think the design is fantasic!
