Bobcats (Lynx rufus) can be found throughout most of North America. They're on average the smallest of the four Lynx species. Their range overlaps partially with the Canada lynx, and at first glance the two are quite similar in appearance. Bobcats have smaller ear tufts and paws even relative to their smaller overall size, but those kinds of size comparisons may be difficult if you're only looking at one of them. The tail markings are an easier tell -- Canada lynx have a fully black tip, bobcats have a black spot that doesn't fully encircle the tail and a white/light tip.
(also, if you'd like to hear the sort of sounds these guys would be making, watch this)
Another local-to-me animal (and probably local to most of you in North America). Despite being a rather plentiful species, they're also pretty reclusive as cats tend to be. I think I've seen 3 for certain and 2 maybes in the wild, and it's a thrill every time.
