"The world is against me....otherwise, it wouldn't be fair."
...and just like that, it was all over.
Plumes of smoke rose from the fire blazing across the area. She had set the manor and its surroundings on fire, essentially making it a fiery tomb. Assuming anyone was still alive from her wrath, they would probably be burned to death by now. She walked through the wall of flames, completely unphased by it; her cold spirit welcoming its warmth. She did not bother turning around, or examining her "handiwork." No, she was content...for now.
Six years. That is how long it took her to track down [redacted]. He had been elusive to say the least: hundreds of alibis covering him, wealth to pay off the right people (or rather wrong people, depending on your perspective) to protect or take the fall for him, and he was intelligent enough to know he was always being watched and hunted.
It always seemed as if when she nearly had him or was given intel on him, he was already two, three steps ahead of her. Until-
A noise, albeit faint, broke her out of her reminiscing. A barely audible snap a few feet away caused her ear tips to twitch. At first, she thought the noise was the embers from the fire crackling; she shrugged it off and kept going, her pace speeding up a bit before the authorities arrived and started asking questions she did not want to answer.
However, out of the corner of her left eye, she caught a glimpse of a shadow peeking at her from behind a tree, still standing in the distance: whatever it was intensely watching her.
Rather than approach whoever it was, she stood there for a moment, brandishing her blade as she pointed it in their direction, "I don't know who you are, or why you are here...or alive for that matter. I'm not sure whether you are very lucky or cowardly. Regardless, I do suggest you run...run far away. There has been enough blood shed tonight; I'm feeling generous at the moment. I got what I wanted...finally."
The shadowy figure started to approach her, their hands raised over his head to signify they had no ill intentions or weapons. Cautiously, she eyed whomever it was, her blade still pointed in their direction. As they got closer to her, the fire illuminated the outline of the figure. Whisper's eyes grew large and a grin spread across her lips as a familiar face greeted her, "Tsk. You're late...as usual."
(To be continued)
You ready for some fire and rage? Let's do it!
Whisper is back, and fired up (literally!) Nothing like coming back from a nice, relaxing break and burning your foes alive...good times.
When Whisper is after someone, especially someone that has evaded her for a long period of time? Her vengeance tends to be merciless...like I'm her creator and even I cringe at some of the methods she uses when she assassinates her enemies. But that is part of her charm :)
I want to give a huge thanks to the brilliant artist behind this piece: kostino They have done several pieces of art for me in the past- and for good reason. Just look at it! The background, pose, mood...Whisper is a woman on a mission that will not be stopped until she gets what she wants- then will walk through fire completely unbothered.
Thank you so much again!
