E-50 interpretations
WWII German design concept for a new "standard panzer" with a new simplified suspension system and rear drive. the "E-50" would be the the new medium tank. It was very much a vague general proposal, and no solid work was done on the design and definitely no metal cut. This hasn't stopped all kinds of speculative art and models on the subject, and this is my spin on such. Taking a practical engineering view, and some documents and post war R&D by the French which borrowed and elaborated on some German design work, I came up with a version consistent with what could of been done with a minimum of "what-if" handwavium. Trumpeter did their own kind of weak version of the E-50, using the Panther small turret (a reasonable assumption) but I took it further, with a reworked drive and suspension arrangement and revised hull shape. Then, having worked up an operational version, a then went and did an experimental turbine powered version, using the TG102 configuration, as described in published references, rather than fanciful interpretations by other modelers. All this is just a slice of the almost manic model building I've been doing instead of art. At least for the moment.

Not sure, but there were immediate post war French designs that incorporated German-based work. There was a German rear engine + transmission design (if not hardware) worked up and showed up in some French applications. Don't know if or how much actually got to hardware, but there were at least some pretty compelling design art.
There was also the SLA-16 X-16 diesel engine that was under development as an upgrade to the Tiger II; one was fitted experimentally in a JagdTiger hull, but because it would have required redesign of the engine compartment of the hull, the project was shelved. It has surfaced as the basis from which the A-85-3A engine powering the Russian T-14 Armata was derived.
Yes, in the sense that it would have rationalized the various parts, like the Panther II was supposed to do with the Tiger B, though it also involved a simplified suspension system and rear mounted transmission and drive sprocket that would have been an all new system. The Panther II was never proceeded with, as it would have disrupted initial Panther production, thought a version of the revised hull lines were adopted in the Panther G and Jagdpanther.
