I’m very pleased with this particular one. I was experimenting with the depth of field, perspective, and pitch functions just to see how they affected the image knowing only what the words meant and not their effect. I did quite a bit of post-processing on this one to get the effect that I wanted. I turned down the gamma, altered the filter radius, boosted the vibrancy, and dropped the brightness a bit. Unless I wanted to spend a few hours tweaking decimal places and messing around with the post processing engine I really don’t think I could have gotten this to turn out better than it did. Title’s still not quite right…

So people DO read the profile description thing...
It's definetly in my personal top 3, maybe not #1, but it's one of my personal bests.
DOF adjustments are all done in program before the render, so it'd be like changing the gradient of the fractal's location or something. Doesn't affect render time that much. It actually acts more like a very precisely controlled blur function. Which when you think about it, is more or less what DOF adjusts. The render time was pretty normal for me 2 or 3 hours.
I'm glad Apophysis has a built-in post-processing engine/program. It's not too complex, doesn't have a ton of functions, and is a little slow sometimes, but being able to edit the final looks of the fractal and full quality, full size, and without having to re-render is fantastic.

WHAT ARE THESE WEIRD SQUIGGLES ALL OVER MY SCREEN!!!
Hmm... changing the DOF doesn't add any render time to something. It just changes the focus. I'm sure it functions very differently in Maya and has a different overall effect as it works in a 3D plane and Apophysis works in a 2D plane.
