Ahem, if you watch the Pikachu Short that came with the third movie (the one with Entei and the Unown), Ash says it's the first anniversary of when he met Pikachu!
With that being said, I believe that a year passes in every region! (counting the orange islands as part of Kanto)
So, Seasons 1-2, the Johto Saga, Advance Saga, and Sinnoh Saga each take a year to complete in the Pokémon World!

7a. Delight - you are enjoying something nostalgic and awesome
7b. Intrigue - someone younger than you walks by, stops by, sees you in your delight stage and asks what you're doing or watching or etc.
7c. Excitement - telling younger person what you're enjoying and how awesome xyz thing is.
7d. Shock - Hearing younger person proclaiming no knowledge of xyz thing.
7e through 7x Bickering - Back and forth conversation with younger person about why it's awesome and telling them all about it which will include two or more of the following:
* Younger person pointing out how old or not born they were when said xyz thing first came out.
* Younger person possibly poo-pooing xyz thing because of its age, which again stresses how long ago xyz came out which brings back memories of Steps 3 and 4.
* Younger person confusing xyz thing with zyx thing, thus forcing you to set them straight.

I am quite intimate with those feelings. Consider that I remember watching first runs of The Monkees, Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, Wacky Racers, Banana Splits{/b], [b]H.R. Pufnstuf and more. You know... stuff more than 40 YEARS AGO.

Tell me about it. I remember stuff, mostly from the Dark Age of Animation (60's thru the 80's, when 90% of everything was Hanna-Barbera or Filmation crap), and thinking at the time "this is the greatest ever".

If you ask me, the REAL final Animaniacs episode was released on the GameCube and maybe PS2. It was a game called "Animaniacs: The Great Edgar Hunt".
As far as games go, it's rather ho-hum and standard platforming game fare at the time... but what makes it stand out is the fact that the ENTIRE CAST FROM THE SHOW returned to make the game. I think they even got the show's writers to come in and do jokes for the game.
Example:
The trio come up to a turtle stuck in a pot of boiling water.
Turtle: "You have to get me out of here! I'm too fruity to be in a soup!"
Dot: "...Aahhhhh I'm not gonna touch that one."
(I'm sure it made sense in context)

I had a little bit of this with Darkwing Duck recently. ...but the new comics made the wait SO FREAKING DELICIOUS.
Seeing the Fiendish Five again after all these years was like dessert I've loved but never had in exactly as long. I had like two hours of some of the most sublime joy I've ever had. Especially seeing Darkwing and the crew adjusted for the times.
...and there's another graphic novel coming out in May. I await the joy once more! <3

-Snickers- I remember watching Tron Legacy with my family, where during the scene where the main character enters his father's derelict arcade, which is full of dust and cob-webs. He flips on the power, and immediately greeted by "Separate Ways" followed by, "True Love" my mother found the shout out both hilarious and terribly depressing, as it made her feel old. (The conditions of the arcade, didn't help. XD)

I found myself in a situation such as this a couple of weeks ago. It was the first time it's ever happened to me but I saw a show that is very nostalgic for me and at first I thought "Wow, I loved this show so much when I was younger". And yes, then I recalled that it was more than 10 years ago since I last saw it... horrible feeling. xD
Does anyone else not really care cause they've felt old for far too long? I've felt like I've been 40 since I was 12, and I mean mentally, more mature and all that. Though that may have to do with all the shit's that happened in my life, or maybe I just have an old soul...Hence I don't really care about how old I am, I just enjoy watching the old stuff that is WAY better than what they show on T.V. today. And for anyone who cares, I strongly recommend Animaniacs for classic cartoons who were plain awesome.

I don't mind seeing a show I used to watch and have my age hit me. I just think the sad thing is when you look at th' old Hanna Barbara cartoons, then see the animation evolution into the 80' and 90's, you'd think by 2K we'd have some pretty awesome as hell things to watch. But NOPE. Most animation is either in emulation to anime style, horrible CG work, or the generically designed squares-n-circles Flash-like things out there, most having bad voice acting or atrocious animation. Honestly, the only shows for the young folk now that I would have watched if I was their age would be Avatar, Regular Show and maybe Adventure Time and the new Ponies that everyone's been clambering on about. Christ that's sad... Animation should be going up with awesome story lines, great lovable characters we care about/hate to death, and voice actors to breathe life into them so we can watch the animation and somewhat believe they are people. Where the hell is the guy who was moved by Bluth's works to start making movies or shows that will be so good it'll be stitched to folks when they watch them??? *sighs* Man I am so dissapoint in today's cartoons =c
