Goofioro needs a host to consume his energy to keep his form, otherwise it would crumble into a puddle of slime/liquid, while he doesn't possess a host its body has a wet and weak surface really easy to penetrate with a bit of effort, and when he has a host its skin solidifies becoming a very elastic and resistant layer of latex, preventing the host from having any chances to remove it. And of course Kuno was the unwilling test subject, after all Goofioro doesn't find any sense on possess his "original self". 🐱
