Tzin clicked his pen and scribbled on his notepad. He stepped back, knocking over a couple of empty plastic bottles with a few golden drops stubbornly sticking at the bottom. Bottles 7 and 8. The others were probably strewn somewhere in the room. A long and drawn out groan refocused the researcher's attention towards the middle of the room. Mai.
The hyena's fur glistened. It could be the natural sheen of his short fur. It could be the traces of spilt vegetable oil that his overfilled muzzle was unable to contain, and ran down his thick, bulbous neck. It could be the grease that his body desperately tried to exude and get rid of through his pores, given the absolute deluge of calorie incarnate perpetually saturating his gut.
The round curvature of the hyena's belly looked taut. The dragon held up a the tip of his claw and barely placed on top of the surface. Gently. Tenderly. Just with enough force to confirm how tight it was to the touch. More scribbling. He sunk his hand in his lab coat pocket pulling out a measuring tape. Far too small to come close to go around the hyena's waist. But that was not the variable of interest.
The feathery dragon leaned forward and delicately pressed the tape vertically against a stretch where the fur had thinned out enough and some prominent stretchmarks had become apparent. He hummed. Then scribbled some more. Next he cleared his throat.
"Well, Mai... I have good news... and bad news." He declared, after measuing several other marks along the hyena's midsection.
The hyena was currently during a stomach filling sesion, so he couldn't exactly reply to the researcher.
"The good news is that you seem to match perfectly the theoretical expectation from my calculations. I knew you'd be a prime case study to base my thesis on. You are doing a phenomenal job." Tzin gave some congratulatory pats to the research subject, immediately regretting it as Mai moaned and his stomach angrily grumbled from the sudden disturbance.
"... the bad news is that I forgot to account for the elasticity of the skin as you keep gaining weight. Not to worry though... I just need to run the numbers to make sure we're safe. You're doing a great job, Big Guy. At this rate I'll have plenty of data to publish at least a couple of papers! Isn't that exciting? Don't worry. I'll make sure to include a before and after comparison. But that'll be the last thing I add to the draft. After all, if we continue this trend, you'll be the biggest and heaviest hyena featured in a scientific journal!"
The tube lodged in Mai's mouth slowed down the flow. He looked beyond stuffed. And yet, somewhat elated at the same time.
"I'll bring you a copy of the article once it's published... in case you want to read it to occupy your time." Tzin smiled and turned to examine the level on the industrial vat containing the vegetable oil. Still plenty before he had to refill it. At least as long as the greedy hyena didn't decide to increase the feeding rate. For now this was the maximum... but who knows. Science is all about pushing boundaries after all.

I really wonder how much weight you could gain in a day if you were motivated and had all physical capacity limits on your stomach suspended, so you could eat everything without ever slowing down or stopping for fullness reasons. And it all turns to fat. Itβs gotta be a lot. SEE FULL THREAD
I thought it was a great idea for a bit of research, and as a result, I made this little infographic with my findings. Calculations are my own. Sources are listed on the bottom of the image. It was fun to do this "what if" scenario. I love the intersection between science and fat furs.
This was fun! I might do more of these in the future. If you have any ideas of fat-related questions that need an answer, make sure to leave them in the comments.
*Sigh* I shouldn't need to do this, but I'll still do it, just in case you all have any wild ideas:
