"I mean...come on, Marcus! I know that we both love each other and all, but that's just something I don't really want to do!"
Marcus looked at Drew with a dull expression. Marcus' eyes were full of mixed emotions, yet his face displayed no sort of mood whatsoever. He couldn't believe Drew said that to him. Of all people--Drew! What made the situation even worse is that he said it with such a cold expression on his face. As soon as Marcus saw that look earlier, it made his heart crack, but when the answer followed, it broke his heart.
Drew continued, "See, Marcus? This is something I just can't do! I mean, I don't believe I can stay...loyal. I don't think it's fitting, plus, last thing I need is my family cutting me off because of it. For crying out loud, they'll go to lengths of taking Heather away from me and putting me out on the streets! I know how much you love me, but that's just a risk I'm not willing to take!"
"So, basically you're saying you don't trust me," Marcus said as he propped his arms up on the desk. "You don't trust me enough to help you get back on your feet. You don't trust me enough to find ways to help you see your sister. You don't trust me enough to spend your life with me. You just don't trust me."
"No, Marcus, that's not what I'm sayi--"
"You honestly think that's not what you're saying?! Do you honestly think I allowed your little cheating incident slide for no apparent reason?! DO YOU HONESTLY THINK I'D DIE FOR YOU FOR NO REASON AT ALL?!"
The purple husky turned away from Drew. There were tears in the corner of his eyes. He didn't want to let them drop, but they weren't far from falling. Drew didn't have to do this to him. He didn't have to do it like THAT to him. He had feelings too.
Drew reached a hand out towards Marcus, but the purple husky jerked away when it touched him. "Leave me alone, Drew."
"But, Marcus, I'm sorry!"
"Drew. Sorry doesn't cut it. From what you just said, you obviously don't trust me, and you'd rather live a pleasant life and have money rather than spend it with me."
Drew shook his head and tears flung out from his eyes. "NO, THAT'S NOT WHAT I SAID, MARCUS! YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY! YOU JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND!"
Marcus scoffed. "Yeah, you're right. I don't understand. I don't understand why I'd be willing to die for you. I don't understand why you're so uncaring at times. But what gets me the most...
...I don't understand what you have against me when it comes to spending the rest of your life with me."
