Well perhaps you saw I mentioned a lost friend in Mercur's profile to the right of this page. This is She! ^w^ Her name is Suzuya and she used to work for Mercur but they also used to be rather close. After his mentor left and the first of the power failures and bot crippling happened Suzu, easily one of the smartest goldbloods and thus tech-savages on the planet stepped up to help him. She always admired his savvy and strong management skills, his dedication to get things done and do them right first time. Mercur is also just unusually smart so having a fellow 'genius' to bond with satisfied them both greatly. They grew close. Friends, maybe more, maybe not.

NOW however things have split and fractured Badly. And they have developed a kismesis relationship (I'll explain it further along). Suzuyu used to work for Mercur but she decided that her work was being undervalued and that she wasn't getting enough opportunity to advance. Mercur, being so busy had failed to notice this but when it Did get back to him that his Head technologist had just up and left in a huff he chased after her. This turned into a blistering snarling argument that formed the foundation of their quadrant (relationship).
On Mercur's part he grudgingly accepts that he has to let her go because he Can't provide what she wants which is a broader horizon in a field that is beyond his influence, and he Admires that she is going to chase that goal and become something great. Even though he Hates that she is leaving his work force and knows that her skill is massively impressive. On Suzuyu's part she honestly admires Mercur for getting intoa difficult and powerful position and for really doing his best to manage it, even if- like with what happened with her - it just doesn't provide the growth needed for some people because it relies on everything working a certain way. Cogs in his machine, a ghost in your shell. They are both highly intelligent trolls and she's honestly got very few rivals in that way which makes Mercur very mentally attractive to her. Even though they work in very different fields.
It's a push pull sort of relationship where both trolls have become stronger and grown from the relationship. They could Possibly be friends if it weren't for the rivalry that sits heavy between them. And also now their actual occupations even that Suzuyu is an undercover freedom fighter with Jev (her New bestie) and Mercur over here is Very pleased with how the system currently is and wanting no change for it.
So they live in this heated push pull that forges them stronger as people. 'Nec possum tecum vivere, nec sine te ' as it were. Which means I can neither live with you nor without you. Because each of them would Certainly lose it if something took out the other, something that wasn't them of course.

As for Suzu herself, after breaking free from corporate work she became a self-motivated hacker working to destabilize the bots(robots) that were controlling caste suppression. Other then that she was just making trouble for people like Mercur and doing her best to make sure that no one would wind up in her shoes. She'd never really thought that being a 'low blood' ment much of anything. Skating by with her smarts and shear skill that the blood-type caste-system just didn't matter to her. But having experienced first-hand what it's Really like, having looked it in the face and realized your best friend is using you and you'll never really stand next to him...well it's what brought her to the rally/riot that introduced her to Jev. Jev the freedom fighter for a casteless troll society.
