I was thinking about her describing a democracy as everybody in a boat, each rowing whichever way they wanted, and the boat getting nowhere fast. A ship needs a strong captain to tell the crew how, when, and where to row, if they really want to get anywhere, and Songween sees herself as that captain.

He called her crazy.
"Go get a glass of water, Kruger, you're driving me crazy."
"For you it isn't a drive, it's a short putt." In other words, it doesn't take much to drive her crazy. He openly insulted the Duchess in front of witnesses. In their culture, this is unheard-of and requires immediate and overwhelming retribution.
That he did not flinch--even ritually--and just sat there stone-faced, defying her ho hit him,...and that she couldn't hit him...shows who holds the true power in their relationship. Her grumbled "You be grateful I'm in a generous mood" saves her face, as though she chose not to hit him.
