People talk about saving time, but I haven't heard yet about anyone who had an extra second at the end of their life. I wonder if there might be something to be said for a mandatory government time saving plan? Your employer could withold five mintues of the working day, and save it toward your pension. The government would have to tax time, though, so as to have resources to match the employee's contribution. But at the end of your life, you could put in for your benefits, and live an extra five years... Of course, every nation in the developed world would do it, except the United States, where it would be denounced as "socialism".
Sometimes I wonder if the pressure to do everything faster is because people are afraid to be alone with their thoughts. If they have two minutes in a streetcar or bus they automatically reach for their mobile phone -- gotta talk to somebody, download something, play a game, text the office... anything but think.
They can do what they want. I'm unemployable because of the scheduled narcotic I must take three times a day for a collapsing spine. Thus any work related laws will never have any effect upon me. Though I really would rather be employed, because I get no help from anyone but my wife.
