“Maybe you can find something in the spell book?” You suggest.
“That's a good idea!” Mystic nods and picks up the book off the counter. You watch as he hurriedly fumbles through the pages, getting smaller the whole time.
“Found it! This looks like a growth spell!” He says but as I turns to cast the spell he drops the book and looses his place.
“Just try anything!” You plead, falling below 1 foot tall and start to dwindle down by the inch.
“Leps Eert!” Cries out Mystic with his arm held out. A flash of green energy zig-zags through the air and zaps you in the chest!
Immediately the shrinking stops and you breath a sigh of relief. You are only six inches tall, the size of a doll, standing on top of the work table. Slowly you start to feel your muscles stiffen, your body getting thicker as you stand on the table.
“Uh, Mystic? What kind of growth spell was that?” You ask tensely.
“Oh, uh,” Mystic blushed a little and looked away, “Actually it was the Tree Spell that you found earlier.” You cross your arms and glare up at the orca, “Hey! Don't look at me like that! It was on the first page and you said it might do anything! Besides, you stopped shrinking, didn't you?”
You DO start feeling a little taller as your body starts to stretch out. But the stiffening of your muscles and joints only gets worse as your skin starts to turn into brown bark. Your feet widen and your toes start to dig into the wood of the table, you're taking root!
“Well, maybe less of a tree and more of a potted plant...” Mystic joked, still towering over you. By now your hair had turned into green leaves and your arms were being tugged over your head. They stretched and lengthened like taffy being pulled thinner and thinner, branching at the tips until your fingers- what used to be fingers- became lost in a growing canopy of green leaves. You were at least two feet tall again, so at least your size was coming back- even if it was in the most unusual way.
“I'm not going anywhere, you might as well keep looking to see if you can find a better spell,” You say in resignation. You don't seem to be losing your facial features or your intelligence, so at least you were a sentient tree.
“Hold on!” Mystic said and walked out to your greenhouse. Before you could begin to ponder what he might be up to, he returned with a watering can.
“Really, Mystic?” You groan as he showers you, getting water all over the table.
“What? Maybe it will help you grow!” He protested.
Turns out he was right. In a few more minutes your branches were brushing against the ceiling and you towered over your orca friend- from a certain point of view. Your roots had grown through the table and down to the floor and, oddly, had started to sprout new seedlings. In a few days time and there would be a whole forest inside your hut. Hopefully a counter spell could be found before then. Or maybe the new one would wear off? You weren't looking forward to rebuilding yet again.
