“I wanted your help with this new potion I'm making!” You say eagerly.
“Sounds like fun, what are we making?” Mystic asks.
“Um, well...” You look at the glowing potion on the counter, “It's clearly... something.”
“You don't recognize it?
“Well, it's very strong. It looks like a reality-shifting potion. But that can mean so many different things. It's probably not powerful enough to actually change reality, but it could change everybody's perception of it. Or change one fundamental thing to make the impossible happen.”
“So... it's a potion?” Mystic asked sarcastically, “Don't they all change reality in some way?”
“I guess you could say that, but it's more,” You wave your hands around a bit.
“Haha, ok. So what do you need me to do?”
You think to yourself for a moment,
“Well, if I asked for your help, I probably need some 'Essence of Mystic' to finish it!”
Mystic waves his hands, “Oh no, what do you want me to do? Spit in it? Or... I don't want to do anything gross!”
“Nothing so messy, just work with me,” You take Mystic's hand in yours and pick up a stirring spoon together, mixing the contents of the potion, “Really, every potion contains a little bit of essence from the alchemist who brews it. Part of the reason potions are more personal than spells.”
“Oh, I get it,” Mystic says with a smile, “This is my first alchemy lesson, I hope it goes alright!”
“You'll do just fine,” You say gently, “Now I want you to open the drawer under the counter and pick out the last ingredient. You don't need to know what they are, you just have to feel which one is calling out to you.”
Still stirring, Mystic uses his other hand to slide to old wooden drawer open to reveal thousands of magical items of different sizes, shapes, and colors. His eyes widen at the dazzling display as one thing catches his eye, then another.
What does Mystic put in?
A) A cherry.
B) A tuft of horse hair.
