I've been asked to draw a hoverbike without any specific suggestions. Well, here is the first try. It is hard to name a more successful hovering craft than BAe Harrier, so I've started with a highly inclined jet engine - since it is unknown whether this bike will spend more time hovering or cruising. I've went for a fatter centrifugal compressor rather than an axial staged one, since we now can vector a single exhaust better than in 1960 and this bike will definitely be a slow flyer. To make it more efficient in cruise I chose thick delta wing with large span canard in front - when transiting to hover at low speed canard is less likely to stall uncontrollably. Thick wing structure may not provide the best lift, but it will hold inflatable and retractable skirt for landing-take-off and slow-and-low operation.
