Yup, I am just that much of a Geek, I do my furniture planning in a 3d program.
I was planning to add 3 black racks (is that rack or shelf?) to my bedroom to tidy things up a bit. And then I was stuck with the option of using a large or small one. Or a combination of both.
So right now.. I am thinking.. lower left, I could use some space for the additional poster on the right and it seems less intimidating that way.
The higher racks on the left kind of emphasize the T-Rex Poster and make it seem almost like an Altar. If I used lower racks there it would feel as if it shows too much wall.
What do you think?
Edit: No my real walls are not purple (^vxxv^) and I don't plan on changing that.

Actually .. the only speakers I have left are really bad, I have a good amplifier unit though.. I should think about speakers some more.
I have thought about a wall mount for the TV.. but in the other room.
The stand it is on is not as solid as displayed here, it would fit a lot of stuff inside, and mounting the TV on the wall right on top of a stand would seem weird.

Something I thought up also, after I made my last post, is where the outlets are. I have those cheap ass tall bookshelves from walmart (you know, the kind that will collapse without the cardboard/paper back.) I have one pushed up against the wall covering one of these outlets, so I cut a square out of the back for access.
These are from IKEA.. they don't require the back.. but it should be easy to cut holes into it. I already have 2 of these standing in another room.
Also there are some parts in there to mount the thing to the wall.. which I guess is more safe and I did it the last time.
But as to be expected.. the screw for that was so cheap it broke while screwing it in by hand. So much for safety.

In the other room, I have two of them side by side. Both are from walmart but one is a lot newer than the other. The /newer/ on is the more unsafe one, as the top and bottom are in halves that you have to put together instead of one long plank. I got some ordinary drywall screws and screwed them together to make it a lot more rigid. $30, I guess you really get what you pay for now, they're $80 everywhere else IIRC.
I can custom build shelves next time, it really is very easy to do.

Symmetry is boring. How about putting the small rack right next to the TV (right side from current point of view) - that way, you can position a gaming console or remote or a set of DVDs on top. It's not so easy to lead cables _through_ the closed back side of one of those tall racks, and they are naturally filled with stuff so that a remote has no place in them.
Well there are some differences where certain things go of hand a little easier because one program may have an automation tool for that.
And as a good book once said "It is a poor artist who blames his tools for the quality of his work"
Of course some programs are really incapable of doing what the artist wants.. but Blender, 3dsMAX, Maya, Lightwave 3d, and others, are all capable of achieving similar quality results.
However.. it would also be a mayor pain in the ass for me to convert my models to formats usable by those other programs. There are some tools, but something always goes Kaput.

well there is OBJ, and 3ds files.. and those can be opened by pretty much anything (at least one of the two) but to pick up your photoshop metaphor, it would be like you have made a 300 layer photoshop file with text layers and effect layers.. and then you have to export it as an JPG so it can be opened by another program. You could export each layer separately and then import them in another program but you would have to apply all the effects manually and then your text has turned to a rasterized version that you cannot edit as easy. You would lose a lot of information on the way.
Autodesk has started using a filetype to convert between some of their different programs, but it is still limited to some basic functions.
There are converters that are supposed to convert between the Programs, but they are never 100% as each program has a certain filters that the other one hasn't and they all do things a little different.
