Santa Claus was having trouble keeping up with his reindeer (presumably being Rein-Wyrdeer) and most of them have gone missing shortly after. What could've caused this phenomenon? No one really knew. Without them, he couldn't attempt to make a trip which made him lose hope that Christmas would be successful this year. Ash and co. managed to get to him in time for the Christmas season as they heard his plea via media. Good ol' Kris Kringle was skeptical but otherwise Ash was determined to help. Brock and Misty even convinced the man that there was no need to worry at all as long as coordination. strategy and time management was priority, they could succeed.
Thus, Santa granted the Christmas magic the group needed to withstand the harsh weather ahead and shower the world with the gift of giving across the globe. This magic also turned Ash and company into several Pokemon.
The group traverse far and wide across the globe and spread happiness to all around this festive time of year.
