I don't get paid any extra, and I get treated like crap, but when a order for something different comes in up at work, who ends up doing it?
Worse part is, it was awesome for somethin' from Wal-land, but the guy who picked it up was like "Meh, It'll do"

It's okay, y'know why? It's realistic enough that it ought to GIVE HIM RABIES! He has rabies, right this minute. He's foaming, twitching, and raving about pickle people from Whiteness Villa, where he once stayed and forgot to tip the maid. Lies. He didn't forget, he just didn't like the way she knocked insistently one morning.
I'd pay extra for that cake. Of course I know how bad wallyworld gets. There's no pleasing most customers. The average walmart consumer has it in their head that everything they say is right, or whatever you do isn't good enough, because WALMART CATERS TO THE LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. This also explains why its so difficult to get good help in our stores. Its all marketing.. Also Americans. You know, cause I had to say it. :P

Cake decorators get treated like shit, much like freelance illustrators. People with no ability suddenly become fucking professional art critics when the product you produce doesn't exactly match the image in their heads, even when they only gave you a half-assed description of what they wanted. Not everyone is like this and so far I've never heard anyone outside of an instructor tell me that they were disappointed, but I haven't started charging anyone, either.
If you really want to be abused, I would suggest wedding cake designer. I've heard many horror stories regarding weddings in general.
For the love of art, trudge boldly on I say!
