There's something a little ironic in doing a Futurism piece considering the Futurist's dislike of the 'past' or 'Pastism', nearly 100 years after its heyday.
Its sad that some of the concepts of Futurism also got hijacked by Fascism - They shared a lot of the same philosophies, whatever art came out of the movement. Mussolini was a big fan of the style, and even at the request of one of the prominent futurist artists of his time, Marinetti helped prevent a number of futurist pieces from being shown in Hitler's 'Degenerate Art' exhibitions.
"We will fight with all our might the fanatical, senseless and snobbish religion of the past, a religion encouraged by the vicious existence of museums. We rebel against that spineless worshiping of old canvases, old statues and old bric-a-brac, against everything which is filthy and worm-ridden and corroded by time. We consider the habitual contempt for everything which is young, new and burning with life to be unjust and even criminal." - Umberto Boccioni
Note, I am -not- a futurist or believe in their philosophies - I just find history of art in all its forms interesting.

For me, one of the most remarkable aspects of art history is how often art has been linked inextricably with political ideas; and while I think that art can be enjoyed without reference to these ideas, I acknowledge that this non-political approach often ignores a great deal of the meaning and purpose behind the art... almost as if we were to celebrate a language for its typography and sound, while ignoring the content of its words.
