I mean, at least one version of me turned into a dragon but still had crippling self-esteem issues, so I guess I understand the feeling. And another got kinda reincarnated as a hoofbun and kept the intense inadequacy feelings. And another is a yinglet, but she's actually pretty well-off emotionally, she just has to deal with the crushing isolation of being the only non-human sapient in society where every interaction (both physically and socially) drive home constant reminders of how different she is now.

Yeah, same. Vayryn the Yinglet came about after some pretty high-octane stress happened. Something about being small and helpless and powerless and being surrounded by people who will kick you around just because they can and get away with it...
I'm not too heartless, I'll give her a boyfriend, eventually. (Even if the species difference makes it a little awkward, especially at first.) ^_~
