I've been with the Armored Core series since I was six, so I was excited to hear / see that after a very long time, there's going to be a new entry. I was particularly excited to see how the designs were very reminiscent of the designs in my favorite PS2 games.
I thought it might be sort of cool to sketch the ACs I used as I replay through them all. This one was more-or-less the vehicle used for the original and Project Phantasma. I never used bazookas that much in the PSX games for as much as I've played them. They're pretty cool, just like giant rifles.
I named it Kolobri because it was just the first name that popped into my mind while daydreaming about the amazing, outstanding, fantastic, awesome, "Signalis." Though if I gave it more thought, the AC here is kind of more of a Storch...

I only ever really started playing AC with 4, which I now know was a bit of a departure from the older games when it came to gameplay and other features. Regardless I always did like looking at stuff about the older games even if I couldn't play them. Here's hoping that the new one ends up being a fun game for all fans of AC.
I might've only been part of the Armored Core fanbase since my stepbrother introduced me to it with For Answer, but there's been no other series that's quite managed to scratch that itch. After ACV and Verdict Day left the scene, I turned to the rest of FromSoft's stable of games, and I've spent the decade since the Verdict Wars 'Gitting Gud'.
It's been too long, but this old Lynx is ready to bare his fangs once more.

God yes, chickens were fun in VD. The jump function was a useful utility before, but when all horizontal movement depends on jumping ability? Chef's kiss, zero-to-a hundred in half a second. Though I always preferred a good quaddie or tank, taurmechs with big guns hits a rather unique vibe for mecha that I just can't get enough of. Not to mention it's a way for tanks to be more than helpless cannon fodder in a mecha IP
I really liked V / VD for how it tried to go back to the more traditional games while also changing up a couple things (the three damage types was nice), - as well as making tanks incredibly powerful. Here's hoping 6 takes the best of all of the entries and combines them into the best entry yet!
I dunno, I kinda didn't care for VD's tanks? In AC2-SL they can go incredibly quickly with a combination of overboost cores, energy-efficient parts and turning boosters, which creates the single most fun way to deploy a sluggun ever devised. I didn't play VD past the campaign though, so perhaps they can be more nimble than I remember... hopefully 6 does OB-tanks and light tanks justice.
It wasn't so much their speed I think but the ability to melt ACs within literal seconds if they got close that made them impressive haha. Though - I know with some practice you could get going pretty fast with a lot of different ACs in the V games. Probably not as fast as the ones you're talking about (and I definitely know / have made some!).
Happy to see other Ravens getting excited.
I was a HD-REDEYE kind of guy myself, though I remember trying to rebuild Nineball in the original game and for the absolute longest couldn't find where the head part was. I thought you got it by defeating both Nineballs in the last mission which disappointed me when that wasn't the case and clearly remember when you defeated the second one it'd say "what is your wish?" I yelled at the screen "your head! I want your head!"

I ended up using them a lot in Last Raven actually to use some of the back weapons while having some degree of mobility, but then enjoyed them so much I retroactively played through a couple using quad builds. And yes, of course, the more machine guns firing at once the better, like a CIWS cosplay.
I *really* loved the sense of scale that For Answer brought, especially the fight against Spirit of Motherwill, and I wish to hell and back that we could get another AC game like that, perhaps even one in a different vein where you fight with, what were they, AT Support walkers, and Normals, in the shadow of something colossal like Spirit of Motherwill, to really ram the scale of the insane engineering some of the corps have put out, and the setting as a whole.
Maybe a brief walking sim segment where you pass by Anatolia, to witness the destruction and pay respects to the NEXT pilot that did their best for their home...
