Entry 18 - Shopping with a friend

I must say that my journey is going magnificently well. I have not been so pleased with the results of my hard work since a very long time. We were able to make a good profit from the manor and, I was able to find out a little more about Cynv will we were travelling. In my opinion, she would be good company for my travels. She is not as cold as she lets on. If she is in a good mood, she can be very playful and energetic. We even had a little snowball fight on our way here. It was something surprising coming from her, but a nice surprise nonetheless! Which was far better compared to our weak discussions and interaction at the manor... She also a good fighter, master in trade and now more interesting. The all kit, but sadly, she won’t be accompanied me after we reached her village. Not that I didn’t try to talk her into it, but she said : “I have to stay in my village, they need me now more than ever”. I get it, she wants to go back to her village with her real friend and family. I understand her, I would probably do the same if I could, but it is still saddening. She would have made a great travelling companion, but that how thing go I guess. She not the first and won’t be the last but at least we will have a bit more time together as I ask her to stay there for a week or two in her village. She agreed, but as the village doesn’t have a tavern or an inn, I would have to sleep with her family in their house... I hope it won’t be too weird. Not with her of course, but with the rest of the family. I mean, I’m an intruder for them and one of their family members come back with no ship, wounded, with a strange story to tell. Theirs going to be a hundred of question, and most of those I can think of aren’t desirably... Thing can get, spicy. So once we get there, I will probably let her deal with her family, be gone for a walk or something like that as she deals with all the question and reunion stuff. It’s her family, after all. But for now, no need to overthink it, I can admire this beautiful port, and that what I’m going to do for the rest of the day!The day and our trip are slowly closing in as we are sailing closer and closer to Cynv village, Icywind. It has been a good day for both of us, Cynv was able to sell everything we add to sell. It gave us well over 100 gold, 145 to be precise. With the 1000 gold coin from the contract, we had quite the stash. Of course, we divided our gain. 60% for her and 40% for me... “Trader cut” she called it, I know it’s not really fair. After all, it’s not like I did less than her, but in true, I don’t care. I don’t need that 10% anyway. Gold are heavy and noisy during travel. Also, the sound of gold have a tendency to attract the wrong kind of person, and she wants a new boat for her village. She needed it more than me, so I didn’t say anything and let her have the higher share, which give me 458 gold and 687 to her. Still an amazing pay for only two weeks of work! … Much more profitable than the village of that dragoness... Anima I think, I most not forgot to charge the amulet will I’m here. That was my initial reason to be here, after all! But I have time. I still have some gold left after my little shopping trip, so no rush in getting more anything from her. I can do that after my visit to Icywind.
Speaking of buying thing, we did a bit of shopping before leaving. I got my clothes, my leather chest armor and my chain-shirt repaired. Those stupid ice spikes really pierced the whole thing with too much ease for my taste... I'll have to look for better materials for my next armor when I will go to a capital. I also stocked up on supplies and spent a good part on healing potion. Costly but handy! And with all that, I still have a good 52 gold pieces to have some fun with!
With her gold, Cynv was finally able to repair her old captain's outfit and give me back my coat without literally getting naked. She was very happy to finally be able to put it back on. There was a sort of gleam in her eyes, a sense of pride and hope. She really loves that outfit even if it doesn't make many sens as she isn’t really a captain anymore, but she can wear it if that make her happy. Yet, to my misfortune, she didn't wanted to buy any warmer clothes than what she already had. She said that her present outfit is warm enough for the climate. I try very hard to tell her that she is still weak and can get sick more easily, but she didn’t listen. She only does as she please, so I give up with that, but I came back with another point. She needed to buy some protection. On that point, I did succeed to convince her, and she finally bought a breastplate, forearms and reinforced her boot with metal strip. I think she did a good decision on that. Even if she on a ship, she still needs protection! There are some bad people out there and some strange monster in the water. It not her little captain outfit that will save her from a blade or from a monster tooth, and she knows it! But now she is ready to fight!
On the subject of shopping will we were at it, something strange happen. It was very common to be bothered by the passers-by and merchants we met. They were always asking Cynv a lot of questions about what was going on with her. I must have heard her story a hundred times in one day. I must say, it got a bit tiresome in the long run, she always answered to everyone, always in the same professional voice she used for her price negotiations, so, for the most part, I stayed in my corner, continuing to do my business, but sometimes. Some would ask about me. They would say something like, "And who is this young fox following you?" ... as if I were her little lapdog or something like that, but let's say that Cynv's answers were... short. Most of them, I had to explain that I had found her on the road, freezing, near death so on and so forth. Cynv wasn’t please, did nudge me a couple of times, but I didn’t stop and got nice discount because of my story! People said to me, "Such a rescue deserves a discount!" If I had known that earlier, I would have saved more people!
After our purchases, I wanted to take advantage of what this place have to offer. I wanted to rest for a few days and spend some of our earnings on extras like a good meal, having a bit of fun with the local and just exploring Abastram. Thing of sort, but Cynv was in too much of a hurry for that, so we left the port the same day we arrived... We should be at her village soon. On boat, those two aren’t that far.
