Yinglets don't have their own language. I forget exactly where it was, but Vizlet was complaining about Narklet and the Elders being wary of allowing "yinglet culture" to be overwhelmed by human learning, and said something like "but did we not adapt zhe human language instead of developing our own?" Also, Pekkit is shown thinking "I am coming zhrough" in page 171, so my guess is that natural yinglets "think" in their internal voice that reflects their actual voice, and Kass's "internal voice" is still mostly his human male one.
Found it, page 26: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/19472798
Vizlet: "But when I try to bring advanced human learning into my enclave, ze elders down Souzh accuse me of 'diluting' our culture wizh human ideals!
But did we not first adopt ze human language, and never create our own? Hypocrites!
Yes, ze result might not be a 'pure' yinglet culture, but we will never catch up if we do not--"

Interesting. I'd forgotten that bit; so the yinglet sophonts adopted human culture because it was the nearest, most convenient thing, rather than develop their own first. They certainly wouldn't be the first in fiction to use a more advanced race to bootstrap themselves - must be terribly frustrating to Vizlet that so few outside of her circle have such far-reaching vision.
No wonder Viracroux respects her as an equal.
No wonder Viracroux respects her as an equal.
Tbf, adopting another culture wholesale does get in the way of creating a novel identity. I think both the elders and Vizlet have a point. She also has the luxury of existing near a human population center that's come around to treating Yinglets as people. The southern elders' perspective may be informed by the bigotry they face.
They still can't without the shelltooth, they don't have the other teeth or a thick enough tongue to get that restricted air flow needed. (#38: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/14781940/ - "Well... zhere's not enough teezh around zis big front toozh to press my tongue against to make zat sound.")
Lopin without shelltooth (#57: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/24678787/ - "...And so I gave her ze oysters. I zhink she needed zhem more zhan me." and other lines) still speaks with ying-speak.
I personally suspect that a yinglet-turned-human would probably still use ying-speak out of habit, at least at first, but no telling. Depends on how much the individual is focused on "za fancy human sound" (I thought there was an extra of a yinglet turning human and being excited about it, but the one I found was the less-motivated https://www.furaffinity.net/view/15347010/ )

Honestly same. Like if that happens, fine, I trust Val to handle it well, they are an excellent writer in my humble opinion, but this series has been such a fantastic exploration of TFTG in a more realistic emotional context that it would be a bit of a shame for it to come down to, "Well if your body is X, your X, regardless of your personal identity. Biology trumps internal identification."
Like I said, if that happens, I'm not gonna complain, I think the story is done well enough that it will be handled with grace, just ya, a little bit of a shame if it ends up reinforceing rather then smartly subverting the default TF fetish assumption that swapping around someones bits automatically reorients their identity rather then identity and body NOT being the same thing.

yeye, am writing a subversion thigamie in that vn thing i was telling you about.
character thinks that they tftg'd and goes along with it a bit
but then finds out that they didn't and are in fact still biologically male,
but they decide to stick with the new identity cause comfy

He could. He does what Veracroix says and he has all the money, food and shelter he wants, before thats kinda what he was all about, survival for himself (and the other refugees to an extent).
He has that now but being a Yinglet he's realizing that really isn't a life. I honestly think that if Kass could turn human again on the spot, he'd still want to help Vizlet with her enclave... and maybe promote Lopin from rank 0, that was kinda mean.

This kind of regressive idea is exactly why some Christianity, and Catholicism in particular, can be poison. It's really sad, as well as divisive and dangerous to people who don't live by that narrow definition of a gender binary.
People, ALL people, are deserving of respect and love for who they are. NOBODY has the right to dictate these things for anybody else, particularly based on the perversion of some old myth.
From every understanding I have of God or Jesus, it's about universal acceptance and love, not rejecting someone because they don't fit your narrow moral view.

That passage could be interpreted in many ways beyond justifying hate and some sort of narrow moral vision. It's essentially meaningless.
What about the story of the prostitute that has Jesus saying "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"?
I don't really put much faith in a book compiled from myths and handed down stories gathered hundreds of years after the death of Jesus, whoever he actually was.
It's a fascinating collection of stories open to interpretation at best, and has been twisted to oppress and exploit people for two millennia now. Whatever actual meaning it has is frequently twisted to fit whatever some amoral person chooses.

To further elaborate on this: I think the point is that it's not for us to judge others, this is for God.
But this also gets to the root of why I can't believe in the Christian concept of God. It's a vanity, created in our image, and more often than not used to manipulate and dominate other people. My God does not judge.
But it's complicated. Not every Christian, or even every Catholic, subscribes to this poisonous doctrine of judgment. Anything that goes against a universal love and unity is a contradiction of the true message inherent to all religions, as far as I can see.

As much as I want to touch on your use of "mutilated male", which is horrible and hateful, here's a simple question:
Did Infallible God make a mistake by creating a transgender person? Or was Loving God being needlessly cruel by putting a female mind into a male body, and then punishing them for being the way they were created? Which is it?
Quit using a book that says "Love everyone" to justify your ignorant hatred. You are the reason people can't trust "Christians" to follow Christ.

No, you should realize that modern science has shown observable physical differences between a cisgender male's brain and a transwoman's brain, and that a transwoman's brain has more in common with a cisgender woman's brain than a cisgender man's brain.
Do you seriously think people look at all the transphobia people like you sling about and say, "You know what sounds like fun? Being hated by absolutely everyone, getting disowned by my family because 'God's Love' tells them to hate me, and practically guaranteeing I'll either be murdered by a transphobe or driven to suicide by the constant hate and oppression!" Do you seriously believe this is a choice people are making?

This particular suffering is caused directly by people like you, intentionally, because of your hatred and ignorance. If this is a Fallen World, it is because you tore it down. I am sorry for people like you who are confused and have closed your hearts to God's love.
Why are you even reading a series that explores the concept of gender identity if you are so opposed to the idea? Just leave, and tell yourself you're right and you won. I'm done playing chess against a pigeon.

And in real life, there are observable biological differences that prove trans people are born that way and are not choosing to transition, but you prefer the Lie that they are "confused" to the Truth. (Do you believe people "chose" to be left-handed once it became "trendy" after people weren't being beaten into forcing themselves to be right-handed? That's exactly what's happening right now, people are coming forward instead of remaining hidden and you're accusing them of following fashion, because people like you want to murder them back into invisibility.)
Can't play chess with a pigeon. They'll just knock the pieces over, crap on the board, and strut around like they won. I'm not responding anymore, it's clear you'd rather worship Hate.

If I were a person in "The Known World" who was transformed into a female yinglet, I admit I would be pissed as hell, but I would be stuck with the new pronoun.
BTW, I would not try to evangelize the yinglets on the gay sex thing. For a species as different from humans as it is possible to be and still be a mammal, this might not be a sin. They arguably have three genders (unlike humans) and have a sex ratio that is just plain tremendous (seven to one?). And an anatomy which removes the physical problems of such activity. HOWEVER, I would try to dissuade them from culling eggs that need help to hatch. That is too much like abortion. And Vizlet would even agree with me!

You're getting closer, mate, but ya still ain't there.
And gay sex or abortion are not sins with regard to humans, in my view.
Once again, no one has the right to dictate such things for others.
As a wise man once said, "May the baby Jesus shut your mouth and open your mind".

That's a horribly simplistic reduction of the reality of the situation. There are a myriad of reasons why someone might need to terminate a pregnancy, the health of the mother not being the least of those.
A group of cells, or even a fetus, is not a baby. It's not a baby until it's born.
And it's not for anyone but the mother and their doctors to decide. It's none of your business. Forced birth is barbaric.

I do too, but there's also a point where you realize the person you are talking to is unreceptive and for the sake of your own sanity (and the room) it's best to disengage.
Or at least I have to when I am in your position. Else-wise I start feeling violent urges as my intellectual stability erodes. I do not suffer fools too well. Something you seem to have infinitely more patience for in my observations.

I do have to pick my battles. I could easily waste my whole day on this crap.
It's usually pretty easy. It's just an exercise in logic for me, and I don't get emotionally involved.
I also think that there's at least some value on putting these things out there, if not for the person I'm having the "Discussion" with, then for others with a somewhat more open mind who might see it.

I really try to love everybody, even if I despise things they say. People are products of their environment.
It's not always easy, though. And if somebody's insulting or aggressive, I'm liable to reflect that back to them. I'm not interested in being a doormat.

I mean, yes, it's stupid as hell that people are raising such a stink about it. But to be fair, based on what he's saying, Jal isn't adjusting his mindset to think of Kass as female; the line afterwards about female officers makes plain that he still includes Kass in that number. What he's unclear about, due to the scarcity of female officers, is if "ma'am," as a default respectful term for women, is appropriate, or if "sir" should be applied to female officers too.
It's still a thing that could make Kass a bit more comfortable, and Kass did stress that it was personal preference, but it's not the same as thinking of Kass as male despite having boobs.

I was specifically calling BS on your claim that this happens "Half the time".
No doubt there's the occasional person who reacts too sensitively. It's never happened to me though, for instance.
I'm just tired of hearing this lame rhetoric repeated over and over. It's not repeated by people who are sympathetic to NB people.

There is no "wrong side of history", with the possible exception of advancing technology being the right side...and with the Limits to Growth and thermonuclear arsenals even that is a little dubious. Otherwise, history just goes in fashions back and forth and all around.
Even the Third Reich may have triumphed if President-elect FDR had been assassinated...as he nearly was. John Nance Garner would have been a complete disaster economically and would have made the Great Depression a complete collapse, and then anything could have happened.

Of course there is.
You're a Catholic. You have a fundamental belief in good and evil, no? But history is ultimately just a story recounted in retrospect.
I believe in a right side of it based in love and acceptance. It's all that I can do.
Pondering possible alternate futures can be an interesting speculative game, but it will never be anything more than that. I believe in striving to make our current reality the best we can. It's ultimately all we have and the only hope for a better future.

Viracroix might not be the most selfless leader, but he does seem to understand in some capacity that his ability to govern comes from the consent of the governed, and that puts him well above the feudal lords and hereditary monarchs that rule the rest of the world. It may just be a cynical political strategy to maintain his personal power, but he does genuinely make people's lives better.
He should be careful. Perhaps one day the people he's lifting up might discover democracy. Although, if he's actually serious about making his realm a better place, that's probably on the table for when it's time for him to retire. After all, the next head of House Ivenmoth may not hold his values.
The exchange between the Trademaster and the man selling surplus grain (#66: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26432414/ ) is probably the best highlight of Viracroix's ruling philosophy. "Do you know why power has always returned to House Ivenmoth after a power struggle? The people know we will simply treat them better than any local usurper, or foreign conqueror. It is not just grains you have traded in; ...you've sold off a portion of House Ivenmoth's promise to its loyal populace."
Trademaster Viracriox doesn't think of his people as "They deserve dignity and respect because they are people" as much as he sees this as "I made a promise that they will have food, and that buys their loyalty, as a business transaction." A Trademaster that can't uphold the deals he makes is one that can't be trusted to make deals in the future, and mister Omarhan threatened Viracroix's reputation as a businessman.
After all, he's also shown casually discussing getting someone addicted to drugs (#106: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/33196337/ ) because he's partnered with the House that sells those drugs. Though the same page shows him expressing concern for Kass and Elim (It could be argued he's more worried about Kass's mental state and his ability to spy on the Enclave like Viracroix wants, but he refers to Elim as a "Good man").
He seems to show respect for those under him, but he definitely does not ever forget they are under him. He wants information and knowledge (Prologue 37: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/14722099/ ) because it generates money (he doesn't specify that exactly, but he does state he has funded research and expeditions and that "knowledge is more valuable than gold"), and he uses it to make the lives of people under him better because that promise of "Your life is better under me" is how he maintains his position of authority.

Of course, I just see most of his decisions as being "good for business". Even the altruistic ones are because it's more beneficial in the long run. ^_^
I always worry I'm going to understand things horribly wrong, which is part of why my fan story is set on modern Earth instead of trying to write any of these characters. Your characters are yours, I'm not going to appropriate them, I'm just gonna tell a silly story about a trans girl who got Kass'd because a mad scientist was waaaay too into your comic. ^_~

Thanks! It starts off pretty rough, but things slowly get better for her. She even picked her new name at the end of the second chapter, which I posted today. Since she started with some pretty heavy medical issues, having her body completely rebuilt definitely has some positive aspects. So it's a matter of learning to look on the bright side and build a new life instead of trying too hard to cling to the old stuff that is gone.
And lots of having to explain what a yinglet is to people. ^_^;;

I have been obsessed by yinglets for over a year and a half. I am like Pekkit (with Lippie's nervousness)...a compulsive reader, the odder the better.
And if it hadn't been for my casually clicking a page of the favorite links of the artist of a different obscure webcomic I never would have known of them.

Hi everybody, I'm back once more to remind you that there's a place called "Top Web Comics" https://www.topwebcomics.com/?home=3 that compiles comics from various places. There's a bunch of cool stuff there. They have monthly votes, so you can support OOPs there. You can vote once a day per device, so your PC, laptop, tablet, phone, etc.
I've noticed that you can sometimes even get in extra votes from different IP addresses, or if you're disconnected from your IP and open up again later.
OOPs closed out last month at I think 52nd place and around 900 votes. It's currently at 797 votes and 49th place. The top vote getters seem to end up with something close to 20,000 votes.
Vote early, vote often! Help OOPs get noticed!

What Kass is thinking in the last panel is very similar to what I was getting at towards the very beginning of the comic. Not all jobs are glamorous or much appreciated, but all jobs contribute something no matter how big or small and there's definetly value to be seen in that.
