Sai gets a lot of play here, which is a good thing, but PS doesn't really get much love. Not in regards to custom/ texture brushes at least.
I figured since I am asked about them I'd post an example of the few of the most used ones of the ones I have created.
Although I learned from other artists / brushpacks (from Conceptart.org and Sijun) these are brushes I made myself by either hand drawing them or using royalty free textures (usually CGtextures.com).
All of these brushes I've used on pictures on FA. Including the one under the chains. That one used exclusively to draw Azza's tail!
And yes, I do use different brushes for smog/ fog/ steam than I do for clouds~

Awesome brushes~ XD Apparently my older crappy version of PhotoShop won't allow me to change the direction of textured brushes (like for the chains curving in different directions etc). Haven't tried this with SAI though. SAI is still fairly new to me :| As I recently learned about the smoothing technique from one of your earlier journals and had a "... D'OH!" moment XD ♥
this isn't the one that tsampiko uses but there's a chain brush in concept-on-mac's brush set on dA

I nver really got that far into SAI, but professionally I have used Phtooshop since the earliest Mac Plus days back in the 80's I am a big fan of custom brushes but tend to make, them ad hoc, and lose them in Hard drive crashes. These are very good, however. Nice textur3es and stuff good for weatherign and stippling
Yep. One reason why I can never truly leave PS is because of the neat little option that allows you to stroke on selections.
Because making silhouettes with custom brushes then selecting the contents of the layer + new layer + stroke selections (from outside) is instant lineart + selection for any complicated task like trees and chains and the like! It takes a fair amount of work and several brushes to make it look natural... but for most images this can neither add, or refusal to do so detract so it all works out in the end!
