Real Conversations I Have Had.
A while back, Meg was given a copy of Atlas Shrugged. Since I'd already read that, I read The Fountainhead.
Now, I can make tacos without surrendering to the will of the masses.

Ah, he's discovered true literature, but you must realize that soon you will have to do what no Rosales has done before you, instead of making tacos, you will need to unmake them, you will need to start a chain of taco stores which are so successful that the government is forced to regulate them to the point of destruction in order to stop your success and then, once Obama has bailed them out, then nationalizes them and gets the Democrats to force Obaco legislation onto the American people, only then will they discover that the taco stores are worthless, that the successful company they thought they had stolen had grade D dog meat as the filler, that the cheese was mostly cheap oil and lard and that the shells contained more sawdust then corn meal while the stores were so cheaply built that they'll all be condemned within six months.
Then, as the Democrats rage about how you ripped them off when they stole your business, you'll be sitting in a luxury hotel room idly sketching with a pen made of the finest teak while Megan dates Ruport Murdok.

You just have to make everything about how DEM LIBS are WRONG ABOUT EVERYTHING and you Conservative Savior are the ONLY thing that keeps America going. Give it up, you need BOTH sides and BOTH sides need to give more and compromise for the best of the people, not to WIN all the god damn time but do whats best for EVERYONE. Frankly with people like you spouting off your self gratifying drivel that's not going to happen any time soon. I also mean people like you on BOTH sides.
What, the truth that you are part of a problem that is ripping your country apart when you should try and put aside your petty dislike of the opposing side aside and work for the betterment of your nation as a WHOLE rather then those that are "On your side"?
If that is the "truth" you mean then yes, you are right. If not, you are most surly wrong.

Nonsense - I've consistently shown Obama the same or more respect that you folks showed Bush.
As for putting aside petty partisanship and working with the opposing side, well let's see, Obama didn't meet with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for 18 months, his response to calls for bipartisanship was "I won" and "Republicans can get in the back seat" while Pelosi was changing the locks on committee rooms to keep out Republicans, so it would seem that the bar for "working with the other side" was set rather low by the Democrats.

Let's see:
Having a meeting on Jan 5th, 2009 isn't waiting 18 months, unless November and December a a year and a half long.
When one side is offering all kinds of compromises and the other is continuing to oppose anything supported by the administration, (including things proposed by the Republicans themselves), it's the side setting records for filibusters that's setting a low bar.
As for the lock changing incident, perhaps you might want to look into why it happened and the stunts the Republicans were pulling that precipitated it.
Although, given it's you, the loose relationship between your claims and reality are no surprise.

Totally agree - the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and yet expecting different results - liberals have been doing the same failed shit since the 60s and yet they still claim that if we just try it one more time that they swear it'll work - totally and utterly insane.
"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."
Well that explains a lot about you.
Well that explains a lot about you.
And your post proves, without a doubt, that 14 year old mindset. Congrats.
BTW- be more specific when you use a phrase like "you folks". Because I sure as hell never said anything of the like about Orwell's books. Orwell could write a compelling narrative. Rand could not do the same to save her life.
It is funny that you've switched from being a conservative blowhard to a Randroid: http://rlr.blogsome.com/2009/03/12/.....isten-but-why/
The summation is great on the above article: "So why do conservatives see this book as a bible, a primer on how society should be organized? Perhaps it is the same set of factors that leads fans of Lord of the Rings (et al) to show up to movie premieres (or for that matter, to work) in full costumed regalia, to take on the names of their favorite characters... in other words, these Randroids are just another set of nerds who believe their pet favorite fantasy fiction (which is all Atlas Shrugged is) is real! Good fantasy and science fiction work because their stories may be fictional, but they resonate metaphorically in the real world. Atlas Shrugged simply pretends that the fantasies of the author are reality. It is a pathetic eugenic fiction vainly attempting to rationalize the notion that society can be divided up into productive people and "moochers", and that only members of the former group are "deserving".

Too true, more important to worry about living people who write stuff like "Any distinction between good and bad whites held negligible meaning." or "He spoke of a wish he'd once had, the wish that the white blood that ran through him, there by an act of violence, might somehow be expunged." - what kind of lunatic would want an insane racist like that in power?
I notice these people are arguing about things that I neither mentioned or implied in my piece. I notice it took only one minor trolling or less to set them off; they must have been ready to go at any moment.
Certain people simply unable to keep their political views to themselves, and do not care how incendiary they are -- nor how impolite it is to clutter up my archives with this. I guess picking fights on their own archives is too much to ask.
The truth is, the original conversation was simply a humorous application of the philosophy as laid out in the books -- a diversion of what is supposed to be an overarching, life-directing method into an essentially inconsequential action. You know what? I know at least one Objectivist who thought this was funny. Now that is gratifying.

Heh, they live just as miserable as we do, only difference, they pay more in taxes if they are rich...
As for what I did.... I bought 24 tacos.... I ATE 24 TACOS... and I'm glad I watched a good DVD with it, cause those things were GONE in an hour!
(...of course, were talking Taco Bell here... not exactly "home-made" food or even "traditional" standards... plain, cheap and Americanized fast junk, but interestingly filling in a "Man-what-did-the-hell-I-just-ate?" way.)
Thanks for the inspiration.... do something about PIZZA next!
