The problem is YOU just don't get it.
Villains are meant to be disliked and that reason is they do wrong, stand for bad and counter-productive, and continue to do wrong until they learn and see that what they're doing is wrong.
You can face palm all you want. But that's the way it is.
As to having my way, It would be a perfect world where EVERYBODY gets along. They would be no heroes and villains. because things would be perfect. Everything goes right.
But I don't have it my way. Besides my way wouldn't be a perfect world anyway.
I'm not cheering and I'm not going to root for any villains or bad guys.

Well, depending on the bad guy, say Team Rocket from Pokemon, Jessie, James and Meowth, I do feel bad for them and yes, I like seeing them win every now and then, but of course half of the time, that never happens.
Though the idea of the good guys being brainwashed is an idea as well, though I wonder if there's a good guy who has that kinda deal going on as well.

I consider it part of being the group "Tank" and door-kicker. You are not likely to be able to stop things in the mental arena and the psy-supers tend to expect that.
The only one who would be immune to these attacks seems to be MojoRover's Gila Monster, and that's because he's dumber than a box of rocks -which can cause problems for his friends in a fight too.
