Sailor Moon's alter ego in Japan is called "Usagi Tsukino" which literally means 'Rabbit of the Moon'. This was done deliberately as a reference to the Asian legend of there being a rabbit who lives on the moon and why she has two buns on her head with long strands of hair coming out of each that resembles rabbit ears to an extent.
