Story from the commissioner (continues over each page):
Ash groaned, coming awake after he felt his face getting wet, seeing no other than his Pikachu licking his face to wake him up.
“Pikachu? Is that you?” He slowly sat up, feeling sore all over, as his companion stood by. “What happened?”
Pikachu said it names a couple of times while making some expressions, which did help out Ash as he remembered. He and Pikachu were walking through the Viridian Forest to get to Cerulean City when they were ambushed by Team Rocket. They fought well, but were having trouble with the new Pokemorph members of the group, with many of them Ground types or types resistant to Electric types - almost as if they were planning on getting him. Pikachu fainted after a Pokemorph Mudsdale got a good hit in, and Ash soon after from a Sleep Spore from one of the regular Pokemon.
“Right, Team Rocket got us… and it seems they brought us to their base…. Wherever it is?” Ash looked around, seeing it was an all-white room with no windows or cameras. “But why would they put us together?”
Pikachu gained a sly smirk and pointed to a section of the wall, that had a tile missing, with a hole perfect for the electric mouse to crawl through. Ash laughed.
“Seems you escaped your prison; think you can help me out of mine?”
Before Pikachu could answer, they could hear shouting coming from a wall. While one voice was unknown, the others were very recognizable.
“I can’t believe it! You work under me for nine months and managed to steal Pokémon, run a gym, and sneak around to give us info of possible traitors and other teams - yet told to guard one Pikachu and you three fail!?”
“S-Sorry! That Pikachu, he must be our curse or something!”
“Yeah! Ever since we met that twerp. We always had bad luck around him!”
“That Twerp must be a curse on us! I know it!”
The last 3 voices were all by Jessie, James, and Meowth, the members who always followed him around, until 9 months ago, and it seems he found out the reason why, but the first voice, he did not know who it was, but it gave off a commanding vibe, though he did hear an animalistic growl to it as well.
“Well find that Pikachu! I will be busy talking to our guest, and if you do not find him by the time I am done, you will get your pay deducted. Is that clear!?”
“Yes sir!”
Muffled footprints could be heard, with two sets of them coming to Ash's cell.
“Pikachu hide! Once they leave you can help me!” Ash whispered loudly, getting a nod from his partner who went back to the hole and put the tile back. And just in time as a door opened, revealing an angry Umbreon Pokemorph, and a scared-looking Rattata Pokemorph, who was holding a suit case.
“I am sorry for the wait, I had to deal with 3 subordinates.” The Umbreon got closer to Ash, revealing his all white suit, with red “R”s where his rings would be. “My name is Umbra Darkstalker, Admin for Team Rocket.”
“Wait… Umbra I know that name…. Wait!” Ash looked at Umbra in shock, knowing where he heard the name. “You are the leader of Cerulean City Gym, after Misty…”
Ash was stopped when Umbra put up his hand. “Do not worry, Misty is safe…. in a sense.”
“What do you mean? Where is she?”
Umbra soon smirked. “She is close, in fact, she is talking to you right now,”
“What! How can you make up such a joke! I know what Misty looks like!” Ash yelled angrily, furious that this Umbreon would tell such a cruel joke.
“Your first day of being a trainer… You were running from a flock of Spearows, and jumped down a waterfall to be safe, where you were caught by me. I was so worried about your Pikachu, but you went on my bike to flee from them, destroying my bike in the process. I agreed to join till you got me a new one.”
Ash was stunned at this, this person was saying things that only Misty would understand, and he knew that she would never tell Team Rocket. But the biggest tell was Umbra seemed to be smiling, in a kind way, like he was remembering adventures he had with Ash, his eyes, even getting misty, until finally, Umbra said “…Thank you for the adventure.”
“I-It is you, but how? Why? And Why would you team up with Team Rocket!?”
Umbra quickly shook his head to get his decorum back. “Quite simple, Team Rocket found a way to change people into Pokemorphs. I was the first successful one. I still have all her memories and skills, but I am not her, I now serve master Giovanni as his admin, Umbra,”
“You were brainwashed!”
“Perhaps, but I do feel better like this, and soon, you shall too. Ricky, if you mind?”
“Yes sir!” The Rattata, Ricky, opened the briefcase, showing a punch of patches with the team’s emblem on it, Umbra grabbing one. Ricky closed it, but not before letting one drop by accident.
“What is that?” Ash asked concerned.
“This, is what will have you join our team. With it, you will be an Admin, equal to me in every way!” He put the patch on Ash’s vest. “Welcome to Team Rocket! Ricky, let's go!”
The two Pokemorphs walked out and shut the door, allowing Pikachu to come back in, looking confused and scared.
“Yeah, that was Misty… no idea what they did to her, but I’m going to change her back!” Ash declared, his partner agreeing, but seeing the dropped patch, he ran over, picking it up.

In a room overlooking the cell, Umbra came, seeing the Team Rocket Trio looking nervous “Well? Find him?”
“Sorry, we couldn’t, it was like he just disappeared!” answered James, getting a growl from Umbra.
“Then we shall talk later. For now, the moment I have been waiting for!” Walking up to the console, and through a glass pane, he gave a toothy grin. “Begin the process!”
The console roared to life, and while it was doing that, Jessie, James, and Meowth came to watch the show, when Meowth noticed something. “Hey, is the Pikachu supposed to be in there?”
“What!?” Umbra looked down and indeed, saw Pikachu with Ash, and worst of all, Pikachu was holding another patch. “Damn it Ricky! Turn it off now!”
“We can’t! Turning it off at any time before the transformation is over will cause extensive damage!” one of the scientists yelled.
“What s the big problem, Pikachu will be joining us, right?” Jessie was soon met with an angry Umbreon right at her face.
“This has never been tested on Pokemon! Have you ever wondered why I only changed humans and not their Pokemon!? We have no idea what will happen!” Turning back, he watched through the glass, fists tightening. “It better go well, or you three and Ricky will be demoted!”
“But… Ricky is already at the lowest rank-”
“Just shut up!”

Down back with Ash and Pikachu, the patches began to glow purple, much to their worry. “This can’t be good!”
