She centered herself, as she’d been taught to do, letting her heart stir and her soul feel like a river moving through her body. This river, as she focused on it, extended beyond herself and reached into everything around her. The pillows and walls of her living room began to melt away as she let her soul extend beyond even them and reach into the world itself.
Paula is probably one of my favorite and most personal characters. She always seems to be an extension of peace and serenity, which I sorely need these days! In my writings, I often like to show her meditating to work through certain problems and to also explore the more mystical side of my world. Paula has the unique ability to tap into something known as 'the Streams' where she can observe the ebb and flow of life in the world and see glimpses of things to come. Whenever I write about it, I use very symbolic language and try to avoid making it too concrete. This is my first attempt at trying to show some of that in a finished piece, so hopefully the mysterious vibe comes across clearly!
This picture was a blast to work on, by the way. I learned a lot about lighting and linework and got a lot of advice as I worked through it. It's more atmospheric than most of the art that I tend to finish and post here, but I really wanted to share it.
