Regular Fusion Dance doesn't fuse clothing, though. The result of a regular Fusion Dance is always wearing the Metamoran outfit. It'd have to be an EX-Fusion to fuse clothing, utilizing a pair of Metamo-Rings... I don't see a Metamo-Ring on either fusee, or the fusion.
...Granted, this fusion isn't wearing the Metamoran outfit, either... But, the Metamoran outfit is kinda open... I'd like to see that, myself, but... *shrug*

Oh, it's not a gag. At least, not compared to the original Dragon Ball, in which just about everything was a gag of some sort. Though there is what happens when Gohan and Trunks fail to properly fuse, which is either "Fat Gotenks" or "Skinny Gotenks". Both of whom are weaker than the original fusees. That's definitely a gag...
