Ha! If I had read this comment before tonight, I would have shown you some of my favorite apps! I probably would have gone on and on, though, so it might be best that I didn't.
Let's just say, I have a folder called "tricorder" with some handy tools that make great use of the phone's various sensors. Plus, guitar-tuning and guitar learning apps. I love my iPhone. Got it last month.

Actually, I don't pay for cell phone service on it, I just use it as an iPod Touch. A hand-me-down from a friend who had upgraded to an iPhone 4. Apparently, people get pretty good reception in my area, too.
As for breaking the phone, I got an Otterbox case for it. Very durable. Having a 1000-in-1 tool is worth it.

I have to agree with some of the users here. An Apple iPod would probably have made a better Christmas gift for me.

Heh. that's cute! I have two co-workers who are serious iPhone addicts. I wonder, though, about overdependence on apps. I read once story where a woman claimed that she became pregnant because she lost her iPhone. Said iPhone contained an app guiding her through the rhythm method ;)
