As for me, HBO has always struck me as being the "prestige" place for home entertainment, even in this day and age of streaming. Most people probably don't realize how great it was to have movies on TV without commercial interruption, and don't realize what it was like when a show like the Sopranos came out. It only makes sense for me to work with the main theme in some fashion. Note that this is only the music of theme, not build up that occurs before the logo would appear.

The source of the HBO logo image was actually found from a video where a student tried to make their own version of the HBO intro of '83. You can watch it here:

Makes me think... Perhaps I should do something like that for a 3D project in the future?
