Will I finish it this year?
Or will I not?
I'd say I will - if only the 'environmental factors' not cause everything to crash and burn again...
Anyway, I envision this as a still picture, but there will also be a gif version using "wiggle stereoscopy", although smoother and in higher number of frames than these examples:

Oh, I didn't mean the program, rather "general life situation". The program handles it without technical issues. Although from the artistic perspective, I should make her look even more wet & shiny than now - and this is surprisingly hard to achieve. Probably nobody really thought about enabling this kind of effect. Like you say, it's rare thing to see,
It is even more funny when the capability exists but nobody has an idea about it. It feels like that with 3D fur, it's not that hard once you know what and how should be done, and the technical advancements in rendering speed are mind-blowing. But I keep seeing people failing at this and/or getting absurd resource usage when trying.
Oh, but who knows how wet brown hyenas smell, maybe it's actually not that bad... Or it would have been, but not for a creature that keeps civilized level of personal hygiene?...
The image is in really unfinished stage, so the rain is just random stand-in. But it gives an insight into how my projects look like when they're far from being ready.

It's not based on any single location in particular, but vaguely references my region of Poland, in the broadest sense. Should a specific place be mentioned - then Sandomierz, Rzeszów, Kraków come to mind in descending order, but again, no direct reference here. Although the buildings are not even close to finished so stuff may change.
I wonder how would it be with anthro creatures versus rain. I imagine it would be as much personal difference as species-influenced. Strandwolves for one don't seem to mind getting completely soaked which was one of inspirations for this idea. But yeah, coming in like this and leaving huge pools everywhere might well come across as uncouth! Hopefully some place has some kind of "drying booth" available, something that is being mentioned in the context of anthro creatures and showering. Speaking of which, again there would be difference between species, but I imagine that a habit regular showering would invalidate a lot of the "wet dog smell" jokes that abound in such contexts...

Surely showering will help achieve that balance of natural oils. Some of which are much more pleasant than others >.> Fur consistency might have a lot to do with rain tolerance. Any species that absorbs and holds a lot of water will surely hate the rain -- I'm thinking arctic foxes would be one of them. Otters on the other hand would feel right at home with their dense, water-resistant coats. Incidentally, the arctic fox may have the warmest coat of all mammals, but the sea otter has the densest!
Just imagining an arctic fox soaked like a sponge feels unsettling... They would get heavy with water! Although, Majka was *almost there*, and she may yet have it coming!...
There are species where showering would not necessarily help, obviously. Incidentally this was described as one of biggest obstacles to domestication of striped hyenas (the other hurdle being their curiosity about what's inside things, and they can tear open a lot). Because otherwise, they seem playful, affectionate and generally dog-like in their behavior when used to people. This is interesting in itself, how different species can be "for or against" cooperation with humans, sometimes very strongly. For example, the African wildcats basically came to live with people by their own will, but the European ones? Never! Also heard that zebras are completely uncooperative compared to horses.
But, to backtrack a little. There's an open question, exactly how much of "extra" features would an anthro creature retain from their wild ancestor/counterpart. Also non-human beings can be expected to have different olfactory responses and preferences, so the "wet dog smell" might not be such an issue to them.
