We had an amazing time working on this, and what a -FUN- project! :]
This is a commission by Snowcat Studios (myself and Sarakazi) for our friend Tobias, commissioned by Rosh Azure. This was the first true project where we were able to bust out some of the awesome features of our new Babylock Quilt Plus sewing machine. The stitching that was machine sewn was a combination of Zigzag, Lock-Stitch, or straight stitch (in those very hard to reach places. We then came back in and handsewed some areas with really high quality upholstery thread, especially around some of the joins for even added support.
There are actually four kinds of fur on this particular tail. Long pile white, red, and grey. There's also a short pyle grey on the back where the elastic straps are. Its some of the softest fur I've felt :] Definantly snuggable!
I wanted to start making tails in a different way. We started by reinforcing the elastic bands to the fur with a heavy-duty lock-stitch pattern specific to our new sewing machine. One thing that is unique about this particular tail is that there are two elastic bands that snap on directly to the fur, eliminating the need to have to take your belt off to attach the tail. Its truly faster, and better than your typical belt loop setup. The snap connectors are the same kind you would find on rugged type jeans and are permanently crimped to the fur.
I'm really psyched at how it turned out. While the pictures are cool, the thing is absolutely amazing in real life, and I feel it will definantly turn some heads at a convention.

Thank you so much :D
Sarakazi (who is modeling it) is really tiny, but it is a fairly large tail. The person that's wearing it is about 6'5, so it should fit the person behind the fursona well. I'd say we sunk about 4 hours into the whole project total. That's everything from ordering the fur to taking the pictures, but we spread that time out over about 3 days. I work a full-time job, so I'd just work on it in the evening really to wind down :) We've both been in the fandom awhile, but since we are really new on the building scene, we want to have a huge focus on the quality of the work that is going out to really make a name for Snowcat Studios.
