Having just had a nasty run of bad luck with soldering, I can't help but note that that solder wouldn't have held since the farrier didn't heat the two ends of the collar to red hot and thus the solder wouldn't have bonded. The would-be slave could have that collar off in a heart beat. I know its all fantasy so I will just leave my critique at that.
Very beautiful work. I am looking forward to seeing more.

This is a very beautiful pice of work I have seen much less work on the market sale. I belive you have a very good thing going here keep up the creativity its unfolding well. Thank you for a very entertaining story line cant wait for the other parts. This is definatly something I would buy off the shelf.
There is such a deep, indescribable sadness to this story. The damage it does the soul to be in such a life, the weight of turmoil and futility of hope. It's like a car wreck in a sense, watching despite yourself, curious yet remorseful to even know. But who wants to know the true darkness of the human condition, that which the world we live in can contain. Most go on about their lives never wanting to see this, but it's a story worth telling, sharing. Sometimes to see the darkness is the only way to reveal the light.
So I'm curious, my understanding is that this island has a lot of travel from different cultures and nations of which I get the feeling correspond very roughly to the various species 'types'.
With that in mind, broadly speaking what are all of their respective accents? My mind is defaulting to the stereotypical accent of each species respective real-world homeland, but somehow that doesn't seem quite right.

Well, the continent of Mataa is where the Shanivaar Islands are technically a part of. Their culture is a mixture between Indian, and North African. The nation of Amuresca is vaguely English, although they could also be considered somewhat French. The Carvecians are a hodge podge of now independent Amurescan colonies, and the original indigenous culture that was nearly wiped by the Amurescans' initial colonization. They're. . . American, essentially. I won't even lie.
Most of these cultures haven't come up yet, though. When they do, I shall provide more info!
