When I started reading this comic a few years ago and saw Schwarzi's grumpy and wise personality that he has many years after this I NEVER would have believed if you told me we would see him making faces like the super cute and happy ones in the second and fourth panel someday! Though I'm certainly not complaining!

Not gonna lie, I didn't plan on having him make those faces, either x3
Sometimes in sketching you really simplify a face you wanna make, just to quickly get the layouts for each page done, and then it turns into something like that 4th panel and it's just too fun not to keep it x3

He is just so adorable everyone around him loses their minds xP

yeah the name's thing is interesting but, is it me or I just find a big reveal that Schwarzpelz's fur isn't anymore black? I thought it was an artistic escamotage to represent him properly and highlight expressions, poses and other details someone would miss with all black fur

Technically it's been a reveal for a while, he has dark fur in one or two dream sequences, but it's confirmed now.

This banter is adorable, also because my German is lacking, what does the Weißpelz sound like because I know that is not a "B".

Awwwww, but even matured people can act cute or childish sometimes. Or can be a lil dumb, or just pretend to be just for a laugh or to break tension. xP
Heck, my rl dad (he turns 73 next month) sometimes acts really silly just to make us laugh, or has a really happy face similar to Schwarzie's on this face when he's really proud of himself. x3

I can't help but think of Schwarzpelz from Chapter 3 - Part 20 and how completely opposite he is to his former self. It's interesting to see and make sense considering all the years he has behind him and all the terrible things he's seen and done in that time.

That's one of the cool things about a long running comic. It becomes a record of the artist's gradual improvement that you only really notice when you take a big leap back and see where they were. It's especially interesting in cases like this, where where the artist was was already amazing, and they still found room to improve. Each page is a testament to your well-earned skill, and an example of how you got there.

Also, wow 5 years. I think I found your comic right around the time you started it up again mid chapter one, so all of this is still labeled new in my mind.

there are some things i can think of that will make me love him (and callie) more but i know your not going to do them

I love how happy-go-lucky Schwarzi is here.
And seeing him now, as opposed to how he is in the 'present', makes me think allot of the interactions he has with the young woman he's sworn to protect (I forgot her name!) is like 'Oh god! She's like me when I was a cub! *Grump intensifies*'

In fact, the way I'm currently planning the chapters, we'll get to see those earlier interactions between him and Celia as well~

Calie's made a terrible mistake. Now she's a trapped audience and forced to reckon with the fact that, big boi or not, Schwarzi's still just a kid! A kid who craves conversation!!

Nuuu, not the conversations, it's the introverts' biggest weakness x3 Worse than nightmares of getting gobbled up by said big boi.

I'd recommend not making it a one-or-the-other situation, she MIGHT choose noms over socialization.
