Lovable Scoundrels
Graphite commission for angelwolf of her character, Mali (wolf/lab mix) as a smuggler (highly Han Solo inspired) with her mate's character, Fett as a bounty hunter clad in Mandalorian armor in the Star Wars universe. A smuggler and a merc? Gotta be some romantic tension there with all those guns, contraband, and bounties, right? Oh well, looks like they're having fun.
I forgot how freakin' hard it is to use only a number 2 pencil to work with both local value and regular shading. Hopefully I pulled it off. Angel did some wonderful giftart for me a while back, so I tried to give her a little more than just a sketch for her commish. You can see her lovely giftart here http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3252173/ .

Thanks so much! She sent me some awesome references and told me pretty much which elements she wanted where and left me some creative freedom to boot. Nicely balanced commission from beginning to end. Lol, it *is* an odd pair, but I always like those tense kind of relationships. Much more interesting that way. I think that's why we love a certain scruffy nerf-herder and a smart-mouthed princess...
Lord, girl, I had to keep washing my hands and letting them dry! Graphite is one of those things that I have to be in the mood to work with or it'll turn into mush. This piece was fun, so it went by fairly quickly...if it weren't for the constant washing and drying of hands...
The texture in this is awesome! You can really tell what kind of material different parts of the uniforms are :) And oh man, it'd been so long since I've done any serious work with graphite, but I remember how hard it can be! Excellent work as always! :)
The paper is kind of textured too, and I love doing monotone pieces on it because it really helps an image without varied color "pop". I think I got it at Michael's in the scrapbooking section a few years ago...but, yes, the paper is partly to "blame" for the texture. Thank so much, girl, I appreciate it greatly.
Thank so much, Mr. Slide. I appreciate it greatly. I do try to bring something to the table in every piece I do, especially the serious ones. I was raised to believe that if you are going to do something, you should do it right.
The other part is that these people are doing me a favor. Commissioners. I owe them to meet their generosity and appreciation of my artwork with as much of what I can offer as I can. In fact, I owe all of you who pass by my page a debt of gratitude. Thank you.

Woah, it looks even better in detailed black and white! (Why does this astound me?)
Seriously, I'm running out of creative ways to say, "You rock." It's all starting to sound repetitive.
But, just in case, I really do like the expressions on these two. That seems to be something you do very well.
And the poses seem to fit their personalities.
The level of detail is just uh-mazing.
Very well done!

Temuera Morrison? He was in Barb Wire, you know. And Speed 2. Then again I liked his voice in Republic Commando so I'll let him off.
Thinking back, Episode 2 gave us a wispy-voiced child Boba Fett AND a stroppy teenage Vader in the same movie. Way to deconstruct both my childhood heroes at once, George. At least Samuel L Jackson and Christopher Lee were there to ease the pain.
