We'll meet again
Don't know where, don't know when
But I know we'll meet again
Some sunny day
I've lost both my grandparents in the span of 5 months. This drawing is a memorial piece for them, and the funeral home has printed this image and laid it in my pawpaw's (grandpa's) coffin, which I'm grateful for.
My nana (grandma) loved the old Disney movies, and her favourite bird was a humming bird, and she loved bright vibrant colours. My mom also said she should be pointing to something my pawpaw should be doing, as she was the one who called the shots in the relationship.
My pawpaw was a park ranger for a state park until he retired, and because of Bambi I always saw male deer as the protectors of forests (at least in North America). And since that's basically what my pawpaw did, I always saw him as a big powerful male deer who had a heart of gold.
So I made this for them - I took heavy inspiration from Disney, as my nana loved the old Disney movies. And, fun fact, the very first drawing I did for my nana was Disney themed; I drew her the movie poster of Brave after she took me and my younger cousin to go see it. I thought it was kind of poetic that my last drawing for her be Disney inspired.
I love you, nana and pawpaw. Thank you for always loving me no matter what; your unconditional love got me through so much.
