Our lovely Pfklshkii decided to go visit a nearby planet in pinkish-blue space. Nothing but a winter wasteland of irradiated pink snow. The weather was nice; breathable, calm, but cold, with glowing pink snow gently coming down. She thought now was a good time as any to let the many penguins she keeps around out to play.
Meet Flmrksn, the space penguin. F likes the things that every space penguin enjoys, like sliding around in the snow and eviscerating space whales with his plasma vision. He's a very cuddly space penguin, the kind to just curl up next to your ankle and melt a hole in your socks with his intense body heat. Also, he prefers to wear that form-fitting bodysuit, presumably for style.
It was such a fun day in Radioactive Snow Planet!

I started working on the penguin tutorial, determined to do at least one of them correctly. Then I thought the feet were not happy enough, so I looked up some references and realized that the penguin in the tutorial looked nothing like a penguin at all! It was just a bent bowling pin with tiny wings and some pointy things at the bottom that may or may not have been feet.
And dont get me started on their tail.
So, derailed but diligent, I made this.
So what did we learn today?
Well, I made this in the new 2.5 version of Blender, as opposed to 2.49 which I used for the other two images. The new version is so much prettier, though I do miss a bit the old style button clusters, and the quick ability to subdivide into two faces instead of four. I guess I have a magic knife for that.
Also I used a backdrop and added stars that kind of look like snow. yay!
And, its the first time I've come anywhere close to what the tutorial said. Yes, backdrop and materials, but its still a penguin in the specified pose, nothing outrageously modified or added, and it is, indeed, a penguin, an animal penguin with no additional features whatsoever times infinity plus infinity.
