Chuong: Arranged marriage is still a widespread practice in many parts of Earth, especially Africa and Asia. Too much stress and pressure me thinks. And then there's India and their neighbors, especially Pakistan, still promoting and pushing arranged marriages.
Elias: Also a dated practice. These days, especially in Sweden, it's okay for people to take their time in not only finding their perfect partner, but also being ready for them. That way it's less stressful for them to raise their own families.
Zax: As an American, I think the idea of arranged marriages are archaic and deprives people of their freedom of choices. Most Christians in America don't do this anymore.

Cripto: I have to second you on that. If I remember correctly, the story of Aladdin involved Princess Jasmine running away because she was tired of having all the decisions made for her. Then again, that story takes place in Baghdad, Iraq. I may be wrong.
Leo: I think she wanted to marry somebody she loved for who he was instead of because the law forced her to do so, but you still made your point. The sultan was trying to arrange a marriage. Eventually that law was abolished in the story; I don't know how it actually is in the nation of Iraq.
